The Future: 2008 & Beyond

THE FUTURE: 2008 & BEYOND

The Seaforth Football Club (SFC) has provided sport to the local community for 30 years.

The Club has grown to 1400 players now & has a new Clubhouse & facilities, improved grounds, upgraded lighting and is the envy of the other Football Clubs in the area.

The success of SFC has the Club fielding a Premier League team in 2009 & plans in place to develop the Ladies to the same level. This will place Seaforth FC as a Major Club in the area.

FUTURE SUCCESS:- HOW YOU CAN ASSIST !!!

The Club has reached this position through the tireless efforts of a few dedicated volunteers. Their work has been rewarded through the enjoyment of the players, the friendships with parents and the fantastic facilities now available to Club members, however, there is more to do and MORE VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED for the seasons ahead.

The Club needs to develop its' Premier League team, manage a new Clubhouse, provide Sport facilities for 1400 players, develop Juniors, develop Coaches, develop skills, promote the Club, raise funds and manage the Canteen. This takes a fair bit of work & the old adage, "Many hands make light work" is particularly significant. More volunteers means less work for all.

A review of the Club's Organisational Structure has been completed to identify the positions and roles needed to ensure our future success. The structure is designed to utilise the vast resources within our Club so that, with a few new volunteers, there will be less call on everyone's time and your children (& your children's children) will have the opportunity to continue to play sport in a safe and healthy environment.

WE NEED YOUR HELP !!!

The following positions have been identified as essential for taking the Club forward & still meeting our obligations to the Members as well as the compliance with Regulatory & Administrative requirements that are increasing each year.

POSITIONS VACANT (not including all current positions) ARE AS FOLLOWS:-

  • Secretary
  • Results Officer
  • Ass't Coach Director
  • Ass't Registrar
  • Ass't Gear Steward
  • OH&S Officer
  • Member Protection Information Officer (formerly Child Protection Officer)
  • Ladies Co-ord (Age 10-12)
  • Competition Secretary
  • Marketing & Publicity Officers
  • Data Entry Assistants
  • Gear Steward
  • Training Field Coordinator
  • Mens O35s Coordinator
  • Mens Senior Coordinator
The filling of these additional positions will require a small amount of work at the start of the season for most, but will have a dramatic impact on spreading & reducing the work that has been done for so long by so few.

Your assistance & commitment will ensure we can continue to provide for your children & the future of this great Club. When you turn up to play or are bringing players, everything is set-up & players just have to get onto the field on time. This does not happen automatically, it is the result of the efforts of a few dedicated volunteers.
YOU CAN HELP MAKE THIS EASIER by volunteering to help out with any position that meets your skills.

The rewards are great when you serve your community. The demand on your time will be minimal and we need
YOUR SKILLS to ensure our football community can flourish.

Elections will be held at the AGM (now Monday 8th December 7.30pm at Seaforth Oval), so please consider how you can help and try and make the commitment that others have made to ensure sport is available for you & your childrens' enjoyment.

Any existing Committee members are only too happy to discuss the benefits of their work,
see the Contact section for 'phone numbers etc.

Best wishes for the rest of 2008 and looking forward to seeing you all again next Season.

Seaforth FC UK connection

Seaforth FC were recently contacted by a UK family enquiring as to whether the club had any enamel badges for sale.

Their 6 year old daughter Hannah is an avid collector of football badges from all over the world.

Club President Richard Wright sent one of the club's medallions to Hannah & as you can see, she is pleased as punch!

U11 Seaforth Eagles
Win Strikers 6 A Side

The U11 Seaforth Eagles won the recently completed Strikers 6 A Side Competition played on Wednesdays over September to November 2008 at Cromer Park.

The Eagles were made up of boys who have come through the Seaforth ranks and reunited some of our Manly rep players with their team mates from Division 1.

After the eight rounds of the regular season, they were the only undefeated team and last Wednesday evening, they went on to win the final in convincing style with a 6-2 victory.

The team was made up of:
Chester Fitzhardinge, Conor Wilson, David Andrews, Chris Deblaere, Oscar Smith, Brayden Capstick (all pictured) and Joseph Springfeld and Jake Springfeld.

It all bodes well for the 12/1s in 2009.
