Football Revolution - A little history behind our development journey...

Seaforth FC is hugely focused on the on-going development of our junior and youth players through our in-house Football Revolution player development framework which has grown extensively over the last three seasons, despite the pandemic:

  • 2020 – Launched a Team Level Coaching pilot for 3 selected women and mixed youth competition teams who were provided with an experienced club coach delivering two training sessions and game day coaching.
  • 2020 – Introduced dedicated goal keeper training.
  • 2020 – Partnered with Sydney FC to provide u6/7 core skills sessions.
  • 2022 – Extended the Team Level Coaching pilot to 6 selected women and mixed youth competition teams.
  • 2022 – Launched our Monday Night Skills [MNS] Program focused on Football NSW skill fundamentals under our club Technical Director Gerry Gomez
  • 2022 – Expanded and streamed our dedicated goal keeper training with Dominique Garnier [Matilda’s goal keeper coach].
  • 2023 – Maintained our Team Level Coaching wrapper across selected women and mixed youth competition teams. Expanded our MNS program to accommodate all women and mixed age groups from u6 through to u16.
  • 2024 – This season our intention is to…

However this approach will be largely dependent on our ability to source additional volunteers and coaches from within our club to effectively support our program. We will try our absolute best here to make this happen, and if anyone would like to be part of our development program we would love to hear from you, please contact vpdevelopment@seaforthfc.com

Seaforth FC - Team Level Coaching [TLC] Program

Our Team Level Coaching program is focused on harnessing and developing our best and most passionate youth players to increase their chances of  competitive success. We plan to offer selected teams two coaching options under our program [specific details below] which we believe will help to encourage longer-term retention of both our talented players and coaches within the club, and at the same time help to ease a little of the coaching burden on our parents.

Ideally, we would love to broaden the program to cover additional youth teams but as a volunteer club we have to ensure we are able to build out a program that over time that is both sustainable and aligned with our core community values.

On this basis our growth strategy is to increase the number of participating teams over several seasons so that we are able to phase in a sustainable pathway for all our youth teams to operate successfully under the same comprehensive program.

Whilst the Club will continue to invest in the core costs associated with our Team Level Coaching approach the selected teams, depending on the coaching option, will be asked for a contribution for the season (on top of player registration) to help us cover our coaching costs.

Where we have available club coaches, selected women and mixed youth teams will have the option of one of the following coaching options:

Tier 1 – Training and Game Day Coaching Support

  • An experienced club coach will be assigned to a team and deliver:
    • Two team specific coaching sessions for 18 weeks or
    • One team specific coaching session for 18 weeks and one session per week as part of our Monday Night Football [skills] program schedule.
    • Saturday game day coaching.
  • Club funded registration costs to Gala Days, State Cup, SIC, Kanga Cup etc.

Tier 2 – Monday Night Training Support

  • An experienced club coach who will deliver:
    • One team coaching session on a Monday Night for 18 weeks and/or
    • Team skills coaching as part of our Monday Night Football [skills] program schedule.

Player contribution costs for both these options are still tbc and the likely time slots for the Monday Night Football [skills] component will be:

  • Under 12 – 13 Youth Teams from 5.30pm to 6.30pm
  • Under 14 – 16 Youth Teams from 6.30pm to 7:30pm

Gerry will personally be overseeing the sessions each week along with selected club coaches who will work towards streaming by ability levels while adopting a maximum 12:1 player to coach ratio to ensure focused and effective coaching time with each player.
