Seaforth FC is hugely focused on the on-going development of our junior and youth players and in 2022 we’re looking to extend our range of available development opportunities with our new Monday night Football Revolution program.
In 2020 we launched an Academy pilot for selected division one teams, introduced dedicated goal keeper training and partnered with Sydney FC to deliver a skills development program.
In 2021 our Academy was expanded to six division one team and we continued with the delivery of our Skills Development Program with Sydney FC but as with many things the global pandemic slowed our development program progress.
This season we intend to maintain the Academy for selected division one teams, continue to partner with Sydney FC and we are excited to launch our new the Football Revolution skills program under our new club Technical Director Gerry Gomez [ex-socceroo].
The Seaforth Academy Program is focused on harnessing and developing our best and most passionate youth players and to increase their chances of division one competitive success. We believe this program will also help to encourage longer-term retention of both our talented players and coaches with the club.
Ideally, we would love to quickly broaden the Academy program to cover all our division one youth teams but as a volunteer club we have to ensure we are able to build out a program that over time is both sustainable and aligned with our core community values.
On this basis our growth strategy is to increase the number of Academy teams across several seasons so that we are able to phase in a sustainable pathway for all our youth division one teams to operate successfully under the same comprehensive program.
Any player in these age groups may trial for these Academy division one teams. Whilst the Club will continue to invest in the program framework any child selected for an Academy team will be asked for a voluntary contribution of $250 for the season (on top of player registration) to help us cover our coaching costs.
Academy teams will be provided with:

We’re continuing our partnership with Sydney FC to provide players of all ability the opportunity to gain additional training on a weekly basis in a fun and engaging learning environment.
The sessions aim to improve the four core skills of a child’s development (first touch, striking the ball, running with the ball and 1v1 situations) with a focus on applying these in game situations.
Our current plans are to run our Sydney FC skills sessions from term 2 on Tuesday afternoons, starting on the 26th April.
Each child will be put into a group with other children of the same/similar age. You can also request your child be put into a group with their friends of similar age when registering online.
On the first day, the coaches will assess the skill level of the group to ensure the children are in the appropriate group and changes can be made at that point depending on individual ability.
We try to ensure that each group includes up to 12 children for the younger age groups and up to 16 children for the older age groups. This will provide the best development opportunity for all participants.
Seaforth FC is delighted to welcome with Gerry Gomez [ex-Socceroo and national coach] as our new club Technical Director and to announce the launch of our Monday night Football Revolution program.
Our Club President Steve Harding welcomes Gerry to our club
Gerry has joined our team here at Seaforth as our Club Technical Director and will be overseeing our Football Revolution program personally along with selected club coaches.
Starting on Monday 7th March our five week pre-season program for our u8-u15 players will be an ideal kick start into the new season, where we will be following the Football NSW coaching curriculum to focus on core skills, fitness and strengthening and small sided game play.
Each session will be streamed by ability and or age and adopt a maximum 1 to 12 player to coach ratio to ensure focused and effective coaching time with each player.
