It is very sad to share the news of the passing of Richard Wright last week – our club president from 2003 to 2018. Richard served the club and the local community for over two decades, assuming the role of president for the last fifteen, before his retirement in 2018. Richard led the development of our small grassroots club, with aging facilities, to the club we know and love today – one of the largest clubs in the MWFA with a magnificent clubhouse and facilities to support our 1600+ member base. He remained in contact with me and others in the club after moving up the coast in his retirement, always interested in how we were going and offering advice & guidance from his wealth of experience and lifelong service.

Richard was well known and respected across MWFA, through his commitment to soccer, serving on many MWFA boards and forums that supported our soccer community.

He will be sorely missed in the football community and Seaforth FC would like to express our condolences to his family at this very sad time. I leave you with an extract from our 2018 Club report which paid tribute to his life at Seaforth Football Club.
