Seaforth U6 Seals V Narrabeen Comets
10 Nil to the Seals.

Our second win and a what a game. The first half was action packed with All players on the ball and playing as a team.

Liam was in goals the first half and Philip scored our first goal. Well done. Shortly after Matt and Ben C scored our second and third. Our spirits were high. Todd and William did some amazing moves... wow "soccer camp pays off"

The second half the kids were so excited they were determined. Ben V was in goals for the seals. Liam scored our forth goal with Ben C scoring his second for the game and Matt scoring his second shortly after.

Nic V had a good run and stopped the ball a number of times. Nicholas C who was always up the front running frantically had an amazing second half after missing a number of goals in the first half he went and scored 4 goals in a row in the second half. So proud and so you should be.

Well done Seals - you are having so much fun and so are the parents.

Players of the match went to: Nicholas C, Matthew, Liam, Philip and Benjamin C.

Seaforth U/6 Panthers V Strikers Typhoons
The Panthers had their usual slow start after a weekend's break, but within a couple of minutes they had found their form.

We dominated the first half, with Bryan's defensive efforts and deft passes setting up a number of attacking raids. Byron repeatedly worked down the left-hand side and put three good shots on goal making the Strikers' goalie work hard. Stirling and Bryan also had shots saved but finally Stirling scored after a fabulous solo effort bringing the ball from deep in our own half.

Jay and Ben's defense was relentless in closing down the Strikers' attack and turning the ball around for us, feeding it forward. This meant that Zara was rarely challenged in goals, but she cleared the ball well when needed.

The second half started with two goals by the Strikers within the opening four minutes to put us under pressure but the Panthers didn't lose their composure. Eddie involved himself in the attack challenging the opposition defense down the left. Wayne had another non-stop game where he continually tackled. He also made a couple of attacking runs, one of which led to Stirling's second goal. Byron capped a great match with a well-deserved goal just before full time.

This was another inspiring effort from the Panthers. The quality of play gets better each week, and most impressive is the way we combine as a team in both defense and attack with some great passing linking it all together.

Seaforth U6 Possums V Beacon Hill All Stars
After a tough defeat at their previous outing, a revitalised Seaforth Under 6 Possums took to Beverley Job oval for an important match-up against the Beacon Hill All Stars. The sunshine and the later kick-off time certainly suited the Possums who were all keen to show how much they have improved over the season despite having a couple of team members away for this weekend.

The Possums got the first half underway with the advantage of running down hill and quickly showed they meant business. With the forward line of Josh, Jack, Sophie and Bella working well together, the Possums started spreading the ball to the wings and pushed downfield.

Patrick was his usual busy self in a defensive roll at fullback supporting first half goalie, Zoe, from any possible attack from the All Stars. With only one reserve player, Coach Anne was kept busy making timely interchanges so that the team had fresh legs.

With strong in-roads into the opposition half by Chloe and clearing kicks by Zoe and Josh, the first half saw a very even nil all scoreline when the ref blew his whistle for half-time oranges and a much earned rest.

With the disadvantage of running uphill, the Possums started the second half in blistering form. Strong kicking by Patrick, Jack and Zoe saw the ball being forced wide by the opposition as they tried to break through the Possum's defence.

The coach's tactical change of putting Chloe in goals for the second half produced some great saves and with tough one-on-one marking by Josh, Bella and Sophie the All Stars started to turn back in frustration. This then allowed the Possums to push hard upfield and some classic dribbling by the team saw Patrick in the clear to have a shot at goal and yes, a GOAL to the Possums.

Snatching the lead pumped new life into the Possums and soon many other players found themselves in the open having shots at goal. Only desperate keeping by the All Stars goalie stopped the score from being heavily in favour of the Possums.

The end result was a well deserved 1-0 win to the Possums. A great team effort from all the players. Coach Anne had to make what was a very difficult decision, given that so many of the Possums had played so well, and Chloe was awarded the Possum Player of the Week award.

Well done Possums, you are on a roll.

Seaforth U6 Bandits v Lions
The Bandits and Lions were evenly matched. An early penalty corner from Lucas almost saw a goal. Ryan scored after a long sprint of the field. Moments later, Ryan scored again.

The second half saw the Bandits display an enthusiastic team effort. Claudia, Lucas, Tobias, James W, Jake, James R-I and Ryan all played well.

The goalies, Claudia and James R-I, both made several good saves.

An excellent game Bandits!

Seaforth U6 Crows V BTH Raiders Wasps
2-1
CROWS CACKLE WASPS WALLOW

After a few weeks of wet weather (some would say English weather), there were concerns the Crows were not match fit. Some supporters went as far to say that their lack of preparation and with no reserves on the bench the Crows may well be at the end of their winning streak.

However the power of a good breakfast (note to Kellogg’s and Uncle Toby’s, sponsorship is available) and player determination proved these doubting Thomas’s wrong!

This was ref Geoff’s inaugural game and after a pre-match check that the whistle worked, a coin for the toss procured and a photograph taken for posterity, the game started.

The 1st half was very encouraging with Callum and Alex G both having a shot at goal. George thrilled the crowd with a header, unfortunately into the goalies hands. With Finlay in defence Jacob only had to save one ball, but what a save it was!

Finlay and Callums teamwork paved the way for Callums first goal. Williams’s footwork and tackling kept the spectators in awe. The only thing missing in this game was "Mighty the Mascot". The Crows were performing at their best.

Half-time score 1-0 to the Crows.

The second half saw the Wasps resorting to "Italian" style football, but ref Geoff wasn’t to be fooled. Alex G then broke free and in true terrier style – like a dog with his bone – he ran the whole pitch with the ball and kicked for goal. Luckily for the Wasps their goalie was good as Will with his Michael Flatley feet also had a shot, and just as your reporter had to answer her mobile phone (it could have been an exclusive scoop) Callum scored another goal! The Crows were 2-0!

The fans were ecstatic but nervous. The Crows were tiring with no subs available and Callum was having trouble breathing. "He’s all right" his father assured us. The Wasps then managed to get a goal but the Crows fought back. Finlay slid, Jacob tackled, Callum booted, Will weaved, Alex G kicked and George in goal – saved! The whistle blew full-time. 2-1 to the Crows and another win.

The player of the match was awarded to Jacob whose save whilst goalie in the first half will surely be seen on "Play of the Day".

Seaforth U7 Leopards V Beacon Hill Vipers
The Seaforth Leopards played the Beacon Hill Vipers on a muddy field.

The Vipers scored a goal in the first half after several shots at goal which was being defended by Nicholas. Max had a several attempts to take the ball into the attack zone, often through the mud and water which lined one side of the field.

In the second half the Vipers scored another goal taking the score to 2-0 with around 5 minutes to play. Kieran and Max both had a few shots at goal – one of which hit the post and the other was intercepted by the Viper’s goalie.

Kieran finally gained possession of the ball with around 3 minutes to play and was able to put the Leopards on the scoreboard.

William put in a strong all-round performance to win man of the match and Jadon and Charlie also did well in both defense and attack. Emerson was particularly good in goal in the second half saving many attempts by the Vipers.

The final score was 2-1 against the Leopards.

- Report by Jane Ryder

Seaforth U7 Dragons V Strikers Bears
1 all draw.

A very even match against the Bears with the teams covering a lot of ground. Scott set the pace with a good tackle in the first five minutes while Kolia showed his teamwork with some great passes and big kicks.

Jared in the middle of the action worked hard to get the ball out. Hugo mastered the throw in to Liam who kicked well and outran the opposition. Mitchell had a couple of attempts at goal and Carl as goalie stopped the other side from scoring in the 1st half.

Callum who scored his 1st goal of the season last game was again determined to kick us out of trouble. In the second half the Bears scored with a fast passed ball.

We saw some big kicks from all the team and with Jared’s great tackling and Hugo driving the ball Carl evened the score with a penalty goal.

Seaforth U8 Killer Whales b BTH Raiders Dragons
Result: won 2-1

Great game by the Killer Whales fresh and ready to go after all the rain.

With no spare players all the boys played a full game. Lachlan put his all into defending the goal and Aiden saved some good goals.

Strikers Max and Rory kicking well. Artie again defending with all his strength! Max M showed some good defending.

Nice game by the opposition, thank you!

- Report by Jane Curtis

Seaforth U8 Sharks V Manly Allambie Bears
Result: Sharks 4 – Big Bad Bears 0
Goalscorers: Liam, Pierce, Finn, Murray
Player of the Week: Liam
Special Mention: Connor

It had been 6 long weeks since the Sharks had seen action! The World Cup had come and gone without the boys being able to emulate their heroes. They had attended a skills course during the school holidays and still hadn’t had the chance to show off their Cruyff turns.

Having been forced to train indoors by the big wet that descended on Sydney for the last few weeks the boys found the feel of natural grass under their boots a bit foreign and struggled to adjust to real football.

While Murray stood waiting hopefully in goal for the ball to arrive the Sharks slogged it out with the big bad Bears who showed great commitment in defence. There were few chances and the team play was very scrappy but there were nice individual plays by the likes of Liam and Connor who show-cased all their Coerver skills to great effect.

Jack, Sean and Finn slugged it out with the large opposition and won more than their fair share of ball but the boys were too bunched to make much headway. The deadlock was broken by a magnificent long-range strike from Liam that bounced in front of the keeper and straight into the goal.

Connor was a man on a mission, that mission being goals, and had some excellent solo runs. With the half-time instructions to spread out, pass and go forward the Sharks found their natural game and took it up to the big bad Bears with some constant attacking.

Pierce was rewarded with a fine team goal and Finn was awarded the 3rd goal after it seemed certain it was Sean’s. Murray provided plenty of spark in the midfield as he was determined to match his elder brother’s goal scored earlier in the day. He did! That made it 4-0 and then it was Connors turn to turn on the style.

Playing outstandingly Connor was the most deserving player on the field to score a goal with some superb runs forward. One final run was agonisingly saved by the keeper and a dejected Connor could only rue his luck.

A great second half by the Sharks showed they’re back and meaning business with only a handful of games together left. Liam won man of the match as he showcased his classy ball skills coupled with tough ball winning – a great combination. Connor deserves special mention for an outstanding performance – whatever he had for breakfast is to be repeated next week.

Seaforth Ladies U12/3 Champs V Brookvale
SEAFORTH CHAMPS 1 BROOKVALE 0

Many people who don't understand football who might look at a 1-nil result and dismiss it as a boring game. I wish those people had been at Grahams Reserve on a brilliant winter's morning to see an outstanding match. The mighty Seaforth Champs defeated a gallant Brookvale by a solitary goal, but it's impossible to convey how exciting and tough and draining this contest turned out to be.

The Champs were missing five regular players, meaning we were down to just nine, and we were up against a well-performed opponent which was lying in fifth position. Many Champs who turned up were not feeling the best, either, but all the aches and pains were washed away on the back of a thrilling win.

The game started brightly, and went to the usual script at first with the Champs exerting the early pressure. But 11 players onto nine soon meant we were under unaccustomed pressure ourselves. It quickly became a real arm wrestle, with the Champs forwards and midfield doing their best to break down a very strong defence, and our backs required to draw on all their reserves to keep it tight.

Chelsea had the best two chances of the half, slamming a right-footer into the post and then chipping a fraction wide only moments later. It was from that chip that Brookie mounted a length of the field counter-attack, but Chelsea tracked all the way back at full pace and unsettled the striker enough to allow Rachel E-F to make the first of a series of outstanding saves.

Nil-all at half time but Brookvale soon had Seaforth under siege. Rachael made some wonderful saves in goal; Chelsea again had to put in a long-range chase to stop a Brookvale counter-attack and play swirled from end to end.

Several times, the ball was hacked clear from a crowded Champs goal-mouth, and then a half-time master-stroke by super-coach Digby paid dividends. He'd moved Rachael W. up from fullback to the forward line, and with 10 minutes to go she almost scored with her weaker right foot after a brilliant 40 metre solo run.

The shot just went a metre wide, but she was not to be denied only minutes later. She found space to the left in front of goal, and the keeper stood no chance as Rachael belted home a close-range winner with her trusty left foot..

This was really wonderful stuff from 9 exhausted young ladies. Take a bow, every one of you: you put everything into this game, ran yourselves into the ground, and came out on top of a classy opponent. Congratulations.

See you all at training on Wednesday.

Seaforth LA14 1B's V BTH Raiders
Wyatt Ave Belrose

Terrific spring like weather made for another determined effort by our girls. A 4/0 loss was unfortunate and certainly not the result of a lack of effort by Seaforth.

First half had Catherine Pearce in goals and as a result of her tremendous efforts, the award for player of the match - well done Cathy, you did a fantastic job!

Everyone played hard this week, even though morale seems to be taking quite the hiding. Coach, John Eldridge also gives 110% each week and we're all very grateful for his continued support and hard work.

If I'm reading the draw correctly, (and this would be a first!) we've got two more games. Maybe a win is closer than we think!

Seaforth Ladies U14/Div 2 - Blues V Brookvale
Win 5-0

Another good team performance. The Blues are coming home strong towards the end of the season; with only two matches to play.

Captained by Natasha the girls both attacked and defended extremely well. Georgia P was on fire scoring four goals, with Kellie adding one goal to take the day's total to five.

Tara and Amy were outstanding in defence leaving goal keepers, Hannah and Ali with little to worry about.

Keep up the good work next week girls'.

3 points - Tara
2 points - Georgia P
1 point - Amy

Seaforth Ladies U12/3 Champs V Wakehurst
The mighty champs went to the only dry ground on the northern beaches to play a catch-up game against WAKEHURST, and we came away with a solid victory.

But the score didn't reflect the fight in the WAKEHURST side, especially early in the game, when it looked as though the recent rain had made the CHAMPS a little rusty. Once we'd settled down, however, goals came thick and fast, including two outstanding hat-tricks.

It was half-way through the first half before AMBER opened the scoring. The ball came in from a throw in on the right: some lovely passing found AMBER 15 metres from the goal, and she fired in a great left foot shot. A couple of minutes later, EMILY found some space and her shot was too strong for a diving goalie. 2-nil at half time.

WAKEHURST came out firing in the second spell, but the CHAMPS quickly put the pressure right back on them, and that pressure paid early dividends. SEAFORTH forced three goal kicks in a row, and AMBER scored with her right foot, from the middle of a scrum, on the third. This goal really opened the flood-gates, because six more were rammed home by full time.

RACHAEL WALLER (after performing goal-keeping duties in the first half) grabbed the first of three with a beautifully-weighted lofted shot from the edge of the box. It cleared the keeper and soared into the net. AMBER then grabbed her hat-trick by intercepting a goal kick, steadying and then unleashing her left foot. Relatives visiting from FRANCE were clearly very impressed.

RACHAEL then scored twice in quick succession: the first was a great effort, once again from a goal kick, while the second was a triumph of individual skill. She took the ball right to the gain line and then fired it home from an impossible angle. 7-nil, but with time almost up CHELSEA was rewarded for another outstanding game with a lovely goal, and then CLAUDIA belted a left foot shot home from 10 metres out to wrap it all up.

Today wasn't all about scoring: there was also some tremendous work in defence from EMMA, CLARE, ANNALISE and RACHAEL, while RHIANN, XENNIE, BEC and GEORGIA all played vital roles in keeping up the goalmouth pressure on WAKEHURST.

All in all, a very good performance from a young team that is developing new skills, vision and structure every week. Passing and pace are the keys our ladies are using to unlock the best of defences, and they're having fun doing it. 53 goals for, with only four against, speaks volumes: two games to go, and we can finish very strongly.

Seaforth Ladies 14 1/B's V Wakehurst
A beautiful sunny morning at Warriwood saw the team ready for action after such a long break. As usual the final score of 5/0 Wakehurst's way in no way reflected the efforts and high standard of play from our girls.

Lauren Winton played goalie first half and was kept quite busy along with a terrific defence made up of Lauren Adams-Finlay, Genevieve Clarke and Eugenie Eldridge. Holly Pears played hard the whole game and despite being down 3 goals at half time, the girls kept their spirits high.

The second half saw Eugenie in goals and many fantastic saves gave her the well deserved 'Player of the Match' award - congratulations!

Fantastic play continued into the game with strong play by Lauren Smart and an amazing goal attempt by the combined efforts of Emma Atkins, Sarah Ludowici and Kate Haverfield.

Jodie Wall put in a great effort despite feeling a little jet-lagged from an early morning arrival from Bali (nice hair!)] and Katie Becker and Olivia Slip (Happy Birthday Liv!) remained strong and dependable throughout. Good game girls.

Seaforth Ladies U14/Div 2 Blues V Wakehurst
Win 1-0

Great team effort - the girls played their best game of the season.

Captained by Georgia N the girls played and worked as a team. This week it was Ellie and Kellie's turn in goal and they were both up to the task. Having said this the Blues kept the ball in Wakehurst's half for the majority of the game; always on the attack.

Georgia P scored our one and only goal, but boy was it a beauty!

Many more attempts were made at goal and we were unlucky not to score a few more! Well done to all the girls; they all played an outstanding game.

Everyone Most Improved
1 point to every member of the team this week!

P.S. Best parent participation goes to Amelia's mum, Leanne; who really had her eye on the ball.

Seaforth U6 Crows V Forest Killarney Kingfish
Condover 1: Win 4-0
CROWS CONQUER, KINGFISH CRUMBLE

After a 3 week break and no pre-match preparation, the fans were concerned how the Crows would perform. But with a full squad turnout and a home advantage the Crows totally dominated the match with team spirit and their best display of all round football yet!

The 1st half saw the Crows enjoy the lion share of possession. Zac started the game with a shot at the goal and Callum followed up by getting one past the oppositions brave, pink-parkered goalie. Inspired by World Cup matches, Jacob played assertively and launched an attack only to just miss the net. Callum was "all over the field like a rash" and scored again. Lily made a charge and tumbled – was the beanie impairing her play?

Then Finlay who was back in defence kicked the ball from half way and just missed scoring. With determination he surged forward and put the ball between the posts! Inspired Zac followed up with a great snap.

With the Crows playing so well offensively, goalie Alex G didn’t get a touch on the ball.

The 2nd half began with William and Callum both attempting to get one in the net but the Kingfish had backed up with a better goalie. Alexander M made a great save in goal when the opposition made a breakaway run. George’s return to play after 4 weeks international experience saw him maintaining the pressure with some great attacking moves. Alex G’s fancy footwork and great passes towards the goal had the 'Greens' increase their defensive play. Attempts by Zac, Jacob and Callum to score were all thwarted. It didn’t matter. The full time whistle blew and the Crows had won.

The player of the match trophy went to Finlay for his great kicks in defence and his 1st goal for the season. In a post match interview, Finlay accredited his great kicks and subsequent goal from 2 weeks high altitude training.

Seaforth U/6 Panthers v Narrabeen Rockets
First game back after the break and the Panthers had a tough job to do. Down on numbers due to holidays and sickness, the Panthers pulled on their "away" strip and headed out onto a wet and windy field against a full strength Narrabeen side.

The first half we were playing up the slope and it took a lot of work by the team to stop Narrabeen running away with the match. Wayne made some great saves to help keep the game within reach and his kicks from the goal square helped clear the ball away. Eddie ran and tackled himself to a standstill, and Bryan did an excellent job at the back sweeping on any Narrabeen through balls.

The second half saw the Panthers put Narrabeen under much more pressure. Byron was full of energy and commitment and worked hard all over the field. Eddie kept Narrabeen scoreless with his good work in goals, and the Panthers teamwork in competing hard for the ball at both ends of the pitch finally paid off. Two goals by our fill-in player, Brodie, meant that the Panthers were back in the game. Ben had an excellent match, and despite suffering a head clash with Wayne, he recovered to show the way to the finish. When Bryan swept on a goal kick and steered it back into the goal to tie the match just before the final whistle it meant a fitting result for the team.

Thanks to Flynn and Brodie who filled in for us and congratulations on a good result from a team that refused to give up and competed right to the end... Well done Panthers!!

Seaforth U6 Seals v Mosman Cockatoos
Yeah our first Win and what a game with plenty of action.

Benjamin C had a great first half with plenty of go at the ball. Benjamin C scored our first goal followed by Matthew scoring our second. Our spirits were high. Well done Ben and Matt. William did some amazing big kicks with Nicholas V almost scoring his first goal after a big run and kick. Nicholas C did a great job in goals keeping the Cockatoos out.

It was cold and wet, however it did not stop the Seals this week. Our second half was just as exciting with Matt as goaler. Liam did some of his big kicks and it was head on with Liam and Ben C to see who can score another goal. Ben C went and scored his second goal for the game with many other attempts. Philip and Nicholas V did plenty of support for their team which resulted in a last minute goal by Liam. Todd was not well this week and we missed him. We hope you get better soon Todd.

Big game. Players of the Match went to Ben C, Matt, Liam and Ben V. Final score: 4 nil to the Seals.

Seaforth U6 Bandits v Dee Why Cygnets
We made the trip to Dee Why on a rainy Saturday morning, to find that the opposition had only four players.

For the 1st half, Tobias kindly volunteered to fill in for the Cygnets. He made an immediate impact, making a breakaway run to score Dee Why's first goal. The Bandits were still in holiday mode, as we conceded another three 1st half goals to trail 4-0 at the break.

A chance went begging early in the 2nd half with a wayward goalkick, leaving James R with a good chance to capitalise, but his shot just shaved the right-hand upright. For the 2nd half, Jake volunteered to switch teams, making a break to set up another Dee Why goal. Although not reflected in the scoreline, the Bandits had a fairly impressive first game back.

James W and Milly performed well in goals, making several saves. Ryan made many attacking runs, and Georgie had a solid game in defence.

- Report by Chris Clarke & Nathan Alexander

Seaforth U6 White Pointers v Curl Curl Dragons
The White pointers showed today that they were more of a fine weather team.

Despite being fun, all that mud didn’t help our game at all. Tom kicked a goal late in the first half which gave us the boost we needed. Charlotte did a fantastic job in goals, saving several attempts from a very strong Dragons defence.

Ethan is our fastest runner and every week guides the ball to goal, just missing this week. Lucie & Will are strong at tackling and don’t mind getting in to the thick of it. Sam is an insightful player, carefully considering where to pass the ball, then Oliver, with one of the strongest kicks on the team booting it back into play.

Marlow shows more & more confidence each week and he is getting stronger in defence. Eliza is getting stronger in her tackling and was our goalkeeper in the 2nd half but the Dragons showed too much skill with some clever angles into goal.

- Report by Libby Shaw

Seaforth U6 Possums V Avalon Cobras
Despite an 8.30am kick-off on a cold and wet Saturday morning, the full roster of Possums players made the long journey to Careel Bay to face the venom of the Avalon Cobras.

Faced with the task of running directly into a gale force wind, the Possums made a positive start to the game where the wind was equal to at least 4 extra players on the opposition. Despite frozen fingers, our first half golie, Ceili, made a stout effort in defending our goal from the never ending attack from the Cobras, heavily supported by Josh, Imogen, Zoe, Sophie and Chloe who made sure the ball was spread to the sidelines and out of danger.

Special mention to Jack who bravely played on despite taking a ball to the face. Patrick was as strong as ever playing a defensive sweeper role and Bella showed the rest of the team how "in your face" defence tactics worked against a quality attack.

Having worked hard against the wind, and a well drilled attacking team, the Possums reached half-time a couple of goals behind but able to hold their heads high as to the committed effort they showed.

As luck would have it, the wind dropped slightly in the second half thus reducing the advantage the Possums could gain from it. Josh took over the goal keeping duties in the second half and was very enthusiastic in keeping the Cobras at bay. His clearing kicks were especially good and meant the opposition were kept well away from our goals for most of the second half.

Again, the Possums showed their commitment by throwing their bodies on the line, with Imogen taking an especially hard blow to her shoulder but still returned to take part in the game. The Possums showed some good passing skills and latched onto a few of Josh's clearing kicks to raid the opposition half but the bounce of the ball was not in our favour.

All of our players again showed great desire to be a proud Possum and represented SFC with honour despite the final score going against us.

Possum Player of the Week was Patrick. Congratulations Patrick and well done Possums.
Keep up the good work.

Seaforth U7 Leopards v Mosman Emus
Result: 12-0

In very poor conditions (heavy rain) Seaforth Leopards dominated this game. The Mosman Emus had to field a weakened side due to absences and illness.

At half time Seaforth Leopards came in 5 goals up. The goal scorers in the first half were Max (3), Kieran (1) and Emerson with his first goal of the season. Nicholas our goalie for the first half saw virtually no action in his penalty area.

Seaforth Leopards continued to impress and the 7 goals scored in the second half were scored by Max (2) and Kieran (5).

Seaforth Leopards played the final 6 minutes with 4 players on the field. Even then Nicholas, William, Emerson and Charlie our second half goalie continued to control the game.

Great Result. Go Leopards!

Seaforth U7 Dragons v Forestville/Killarney Kites
On the wettest day this season so far and with the minimum numbers needed to play - the boys hit the pitch (with very few parents in support!)

In lashing rain the pitch soon became a quagmire with the Seaforth strip more black than white!

There was a lot of strong defence in the first half with some excellent saves by Scot and good tackling by Jared. However the Kites pushed through and scored the first goal.

But in a concerted effort the boys pushed back and in a coordinated offensive broke through the Kites defence allowing Callum to equalise with his first goal of the season!

But the boys were not able to withstand the strong Kites offensive in the second half when 4 more goals getting through. But Hugo tried valiantly to save the day by getting the Dragons second goal in before the final whistle blew.

A massive effort today by 5 very wet and tiered-out boys.

Man of the match goes to Hugo for running himself ragged and coming off the pitch with more mud on him than anyone else!

Seaforth U10/5 v Forest Killarney
Result: Seaforth 7 Pittwater 1

What a great game, there were so many goals - it actually rained goals!! Needless to say that the whole team really played well together with passing, being alert and looking ahead almost all the time. The result speaks for itself. I hope for a performance like that next Saturday. GO SEAFORTH!!!

Goal scorers were: - 3 for Lyndon, 2 for Henry (which kindly filled in to complete our team) 1 for Rhys and 1 for Lewis. The man of the match went to Lyndon, who did a terrific job on the field, not only scoring all those goals, but playing brilliantly right through the game.

With a spirit like that I look forward to the next game. Well done to all players.

Seaforth Ladies U12/Div 3 - Champs V Pittwater
Another good result for the Champs today, but we got away to a very slow start, thanks in part because the Pittwater ladies could only muster 8 players at the beginning of the game. Rather than use our numbers to advantage, the Champs were falling over each other in their haste to get to the ball and the quality of their passing game was missing.

We did score two goals before the break, through Chelsea and Xenia. Chelsea is a regular contributor to the score sheet, but this was Xenia's first goal of the season. She went on with it in the second half, grabbing two more goals to secure a well-deserved hat-trick. She always gives 100% on the left flank or in the left-midfield, and Xenia was able to reap the rewards today. Chelsea grabbed a second goal, a cracker from the edge of the box, and Bec also came to the party with another wonderful shot; and Emily also chimed in with a lovely goal that was the result of good following-up.

One thing to bear in mind: Xenia and Chelsea scored 5 of our goals today because both stayed out wide (as they've done throughout the season). The other Champs fought it out in mid-field but occasionally got in each other's way. When the ball was spread wide, the goals came thick and fast.

Special thanks to Sam and Tess who both came up from the Under 10s. And we should also mention the Pittwater goalie who had a terrific game: she made a string of top-class saves and some say she is the best keeper we've seen all season.

No training this week, and no game on the weekend. Training will be on 2nd Wednesday of July, and our next game will be on against Wakehurst at Lionel Watts #3 at 8.30 on Sunday July 16.

Enjoy the holidays, and well played Champs!

A good tough match against the third team in the comp. Hard luck our girls didn't score as we had much of the ball in Mosman's half for most of the game. (A certain/maybe goal in the second half - maybe their goalie was over the line?)

Georgia P was captain this week, Lucia and Catherine were our goalies and did the team proud with their efforts. All the girls had a strong second half as they tried so hard to make up the deficit of Mosman's two goal lead at half time.

Great encouragement from Fred and Andrew on the sideline to keep the girls motivated.

Enjoy your holidays girls, but see you at training on Wednesday the 12th so you're all ready for your next match on the 16th.

Seaforth U6 Seals v Team Rockets
Seaforth Seals did it tough today on the slippery field. It was a wet and muddy game but everyone had fun. The Rockets scored 3 goals in the first half however Ben C kept many goals at bay and all the time with his chin up.

In the second half William made a serious effort as our goal keeper however Team Rocket scored another 3 goals. There were some amazing kicks by Nicholas C which went in the air over the Teams Rockets heads. The Seals just didn't seems themselves today however managed to still be smiling. Well done Seals.

Players of the match went to William and NIcholas C.

Seaforth U6 Currawongs vs Beacon Hill All Stars
3-3

Taking their inspiration from the Socceroos, the Currawongs showed true Aussie spirit and never gave in despite the constant assault from a young Beacon Hill All Stars.

Seaforth scored an early goal, set up by Fintan and finished by Eliza, which gave us the impetus to keep running and tackling despite the sludgy pitch. Rory made vital saves in the first half, preventing the score from escalating and Josh, Matthew and Fintan surged forward whenever possible.

Despite an unfavourable first half score, the Currawongs came back in attacking form and Eliot put a beautiful shot into the back of the net. Eliza, in goal, threw herself on many strong shots from the opposition but unfortunately the call of nature on her part left the goal open and the All Stars scored again.

Several attempts at goal by Matthew, Eliot, Josh and Lily narrowly missed but in the end Scout managed to take the ball up the field and effortlessly punch it to the back of the net.

The final score of 3-3 gave the Currawongs a much-needed boost - after all the Socceroos drew and they are heroes!

Player of the Match went to Fintan for his constant tackling, attack and great thinking. Thanks to Anthony for blowing the final whistle when he did.

Seaforth U6 Bandits v Mavericks
Despite a very wet field, the match between both teams went ahead and lots of fun was had in the puddles.

Claudia Wilson, Milly and Georgie Joyce, James Rees-Innes, Tobias Brooks and James Watcher represented the Bandits, with Jake Alexander and Ryan Singleton being our goalies respectively in first and second halves.

No goals were scored in the first half, although the teams played well and seemed quite evenly matched. There were a couple of great set-ups by both teams, but it wasn’t until the second half that the first goal was scored for the Mavericks.

A second, well-deserved goal followed, and both teams played enthusiastically till the end.

Special note to Ryan and Jake for their fantastic efforts as goal keepers and to Claudia Wilson for great defence.

Seaforth U/6 Panthers vs Wakehurst Seahorses
This week the Panthers played like the Socceroos... they dominated much of the play, particularly the second half, but struggled to turn the ball possession into goals.

The first half started with Zara heavily involved with plenty of kicks moving the ball upfield. Byron and Bryan both used their dribbling skills to turn defense into attack by taking the ball down the wings and feeding it forward. Some of the Panthers were a bit tentative today in chasing and tackling, but Ben and Eddie showed what we have been practicing by competing strongly whenever Wakehurst had the ball. Wayne was confident in coming off his line to the edge of his penalty area to make some good saves.

Zara continued the second half the way she played the first. She intercepted any loose balls and drove them forward. Jay has obviously been watching the World Cup very closely... he made some great passes to his teammates and was using some magical footwork on the ball. Stirling worked hard, and peppered the Seahorse goal in the second half with multiple shots and was unlucky not to grab a handful of goals. Byron made some brave diving saves which denied the Wakehurst attack on a number of occasions.

In a lot of ways we were unlucky not to have scored more goals today, but we also were a little flat in some areas, lacking some spark in chasing and tackling compared to when we are on top form. Hopefully we can come back from a couple of weeks break refreshed and ready to go!

Seaforth U6 Crows V Strikers Territories
St Matthews: Win 3-1
CROWS MIGHTY AND MUDDY

On one of the only grounds open and with the pitch shortened (due to flooding!) our Crows arrived ready to get down and dirty!

With George overseas (the World Cup was on after all!) and Jacob not quite match fit – the Crows had only one sub.

But in wet conditions, taking only the longest of studs, the Crows showed perseverance to eventually dominate a game that could have gone either way.

Coach Gary awarded our player of the match trophy to Callum whose goal scoring and forward play were remarkable.

After using the 2005 season as a build up to the 2006 season the Crows after 10 matches have scored 30 goals (with only 13 against). They have had 6 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw. Coach Gary has galvanised this team into a potent force, with every player contributing in a meaningful way.

In a separate incident, your reporter forgot to mention the amazing following the Crows have. Dad Geoff (a promising ref in the making) was seen at the Crows V Condors match (the week before) even though his son George was overseas getting match experience on an international level.

Seaforth U8 Tassie Devils V Wakehurst Ravens
Today we played the Wakehurst Ravens under beautiful blue skies. They were certainly the stronger team but we were not going to let Hamish Sainsbury’s last game be a disappointing one.

Once again our strong players Lilli Smith and Cameron Hodge put up strong defense as Isabel Armour in goals attempted to keep any goals out. Richard Zhang played a good game as did Kelly Goble. Eden and Lucy played a good game also. Daniel Kernaghan was fantastic as goalie in the second half.

We were defeated but thanks go out to our ref Malcolm Armour, timer Jane Morrissey and goalie helper Debbie Hodge. The Tassie Devils has a wonderful friendly support team.

Best wishes to Hamish Sainsbury and welcome to Joshy Rohan-Gould.

Seaforth Ladies U12/4 Devils V Avalon A
Result: Seaforth 2 Avalon A 0

Well done Devils. Playing with 2 under 10 players against a very large Avalon team that seriously wanted to win, and were prepared to do whatever it took. I am proud to be the manager of a team that just want to get out there and play football.

A great game for Gemma, fab throw ins and a kick from defence off the goal line that would have been a goal for sure. Both Cat and Liv kept the goals out with a few scary moments thrown in.

Thankyou to our 2 under 10's Kayla and Rory, both played well. Go Helena with her 1st goal of the season and to Kahlia for giving us a 2 goal advantage.

Player of the week was Adrianna, who played like a demon after battling a knee injury.

Lastly, thankyou to our wonderful, dedicated, committed coach Stix, as a manager and a parent I would like to say we think you are great, the girls wanted to and did win this one for you. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.

Seaforth Ladies U12/3 Champs v Curl Curl
Seaforth Champs 5 Curl Curl 0

What a game! Freezing conditions, but red-hot football. This was a fantastic contest between two really good sides, and the scoreline does not reflect the terrific contest Curl Curl provided.

This was a game with plenty of spice, even before the kick-off. Our only loss so far this year came down at Curl Curl way back in April (1-0) and each team had lost only once going into the game today. Only goal difference separated the Champs from the Curlies.

Seaforth started brightly, applying all the early pressure, but great Curl Curl defence denied us time and again. However, the Champs went 1-nil up on the 12 minute mark, Brigette belting the ball home from close range after Bec had torn the Curly backs apart. Now it became serious. Both teams stepped up a gear, and the play went from end to end right through to the half time whistle.

Curl Curl came out on fire at the start of the second spell. Their talented players put the Champs under more pressure than we've had all season, and it took some good goalkeeping from Rachel E. and the usual high-standard defence from Rachael, Annalise and Emma, to keep Curly out. Suddenly, for just about the first time in the half, we were down in their goal square, and Chelsea fired in a blistering shot, from point blank range. A miraculous save from their very brave goalie, but Chelsea then followed up and scored.

2-nil, but Chelsea was on the score sheet again minutes later: she broke from inside her own half, raced down the right side of the field, beat the fullback and then teased the goalie off her line before using the outside of the foot to grab her second. 3-nil. Suddenly, the mighty Champs had turned the tide, and Claudia made it 4-nil when she picked up a through ball, beat the goalie and turned the ball in from close range. Only minutes left, but Chelsea was on hand to score her hat-trick with a close-range shot at the far post.

All in all, an excellent performance from a team that featured many players who were sick, and no reserves on the bench. Make no mistake, Curl Curl was a very competitive side and their ladies kept going right to the final whistle. The scoreline does not reflect the pressure they had us under, but full credit to our mighty Champs: they stepped up for the big occasion, never stopped and really deserved the victory. Well done both sides.

Seaforth Ladies U14/Div 2 - Blues V Strikers
A GREAT WIN 7-0
Fantastic play from all the girls today. Training this week must have helped because everyone was stopping the ball and passing to a team mate. Great skills girls. Great coaching guys. Great captaining Amelia.

Tara had her turn as goalie in the first half, and wasn't put under any pressure as the rest of the team keep the ball in the other half. This was a good thing, considering the puddle that was right in front of goals. The Blues scored three goals in this section of play.

The second half saw Jessica take on the goalie roll, and the Strikers put her under a little more pressure. Jessica kept her cool, and the Blues scored another four goals to finish the day with a great win.

Goals today were scored by Kellie - 2, Amelia - 2, Ali - 1, Georgia P - 1 and Amy -1. Keep up the great play next week girls.

P.S. Thanks to Lucia's dad Andrew for filling in as Ref.

Seaforth Ladies U14/Div 2 Blues v Curl Curl
Loss 2-0

The Blues played a solid game against the top team in the draw, and were unfortunate to concede two goals in the first half. With Jessica as captain this week the girls had lots of opportunities to score, as they kept the ball in Curl Curl's half for most of the game. They were extremely unlucky not to come away with some points; and Ali, next time. (Two great attempts at goal).

Girls we didn't use the sidelines this week - but a much improved team effort on last week. Both Georgias' did a great job in goal. Having said this if there were points for talking - we'd be tops; please follow Jessica's lead girls and mark your players. A great example all day!

Another big game next week Blues, let's see if we can match our first round achievement! Good Luck.

Seaforth U/6 Dolphins V Manly Allambie Hulks
Result 15-0

Well it was another cold start off to the morning. Our coach was away on holidays so we had a stand in coach, a new ref & a few helpers on the sideline.

After a quick warmup we hit the scoreboard. The team was rotated on & off at a quick pace to keep everyone warm & fresh. By half time we were 5 nil up.

Goals were getting scored by all team members with Will, Max & Tautai hitting the scoreboard. However this week was Mitchell Hodges week, he racked up 10 goals of his own (maybe a record?). He was over the moon with happiness and his mum was SO proud!

The WHOLE team defended & played well. It was a GREAT team effort overall that saw us win 15-0.

If we can keep the team together, look out Brazil in 12 years time, the Dolphins have their eyes on 'The World Cup'.

Seaforth U/6 Seaforth Panthers vs Seaforth Little Devils
Another great game by the Panthers where we dominated the possession and most of the field position, but this week we were unlucky not to convert more of our chances.

Ben showed the way to tackle in the first half with his bustling efforts turning the ball over again and again before the Devils had a chance to attack. We created a lot of chances in the opening 15 minutes with most of the team taking shots at goal.

Our swarming defense did a fantastic job at shutting the ball down but on the rare occasions they did break away our goalie Jay made some excellent saves which kept the Devils scoreless at halftime.

The second half saw Ben switch to goalkeeper and keep us in the match by some brave saves at the feet of the opposition. Eddie contested the ball at every opportunity and threw himself into the challenges. Stirling led the team forward, scoring the goal to keep us in the match and was unlucky not to have several more, which were saved through excellent work by the Devil's keeper.

Zara's solid match was highlighted with the pass she put to Stirling's feet to give him a shot at goal, well done Zara. Bryan and Byron worked hard at both ends of the field with lots of running, tackling and passing to turn defense into attack and with Jay's help they intercepted a lot of balls when things started to look dangerous.

This was an entertaining match and very exciting for the spectators. Every member of the team is contributing and improving week by week and you should all be happy with the way we are playing.

Seaforth U6 Bandits v Starfish
SCORE: Bandits 4 Starfish 0

The first half saw the Bandits in control of the ball with Ryan scoring early. Some great work by Tobias in goal, not letting anything past him. Claudia, Milly & Georgie were great in defence and in the middle of the field, with James R, James W & Jake all doing a great job. Ryan scored our second goal and we went to the break 2-nil up.

The second half was a repeat of the first with great goalkeeping by James R and good defence by all saw Milly score a fantastic goal. Jake had a few shots saved by the goalie. With Ryan scoring again, we wrapped up the game. Fantastic game by all.

Seaforth U6 Seals v Beacon Hill Panthers
The first half we kept the Panthers on their toes. The Seals played well and made numerous attempts at the goal line, however Todd was strong at goalie. The Panthers scored one goal in this half.

The second half was action packed and the excitement in the team and the spectators grew. Our goalie, Philip stopped the ball many times. The Panthers scored 2 goals in this half with 1 goal just rolling in. Final score was 3-1.

Matthew scored a great goal for the Seals, with some great team work. Nic V, Nic C, William, Ben C and Liam all had a great game with some amazing control of the ball.

Players of the week went to Matthew and Philip. Well done Seals.

Seaforth U6 Crows V Avalon Condors
THE BIRDS DO BATTLE

Inspired by the Socceroos win, the Crows were pumped! Zac started off with a shot at goal then Alex G put it in. There were "socceroo" hugs all round. Zacs stopping and turning were amazing. Will had 3 great saves in goal and then Lily almost got the ball past their goalie. Jacob was showing some cool moves in defence. 1/2 time score 1-0.

The 2nd 1/2 began well with Lily having 2 great shots at goal. Alexander was doing a great job in defence with his excellent tackling. Then Callum ran the whole pitch with the ball and just missed out on scoring.

Inspired..... Will scored! 2-0 As we all cheered the Condors seeked revenge and scored. Remember the Crows were living up to the Socceroos, Will scored a great goal! 3-1 Just to make sure there was no doubt who was going to win the battle Callum put the ball straight into the back of the net! Crows 4 - Condors 1

What a great game. All the Crows played really well but Zac was our player of the match. Well done and well deserved Zac!

Seaforth U7 Leopards v Mosman Wallabies
Final Result 2-2

A perfect sunny winter's day saw a hard-fought game between two very evenly matched teams. The Leopards commenced the first half with Kieran Wilkes in goal. Nicholas Dennett kicked off to Jadon Horsley and the Wallabies pressed towards the goal in the face of good defensive work by Ben Ryder, Emerson Walker-Wheatland, Nick and Jadon resulting in a near-miss by the Wallabies.

This was immediately followed by a good charge by Seaforth led by Charlie Webber and Emerson. Play shifted back towards the Seaforth end, with a strong attack by the Wallabies thwarted by a great save by Seaforth goalie Kieran Wilkes.

At the 12th minute Nick and Ben were substituted for William Knoke and Max Nyssen. A run by the Wallabies fourteen minutes in saw an excellent save by Kieran. Following Kieran's kick out a throw-in was intercepted by Max who commenced a spectacular run on the Wallabies goal. Beating the defenders and staying ahead of the pack Max scored a brilliant goal at the end of his charge.

An increasingly physical match saw Jadon sidelined by a ball to his face then two saves by Kieran in quick succession closed the first half.

The second half saw Nicholas in goal. Kieran began putting the pressure on the opposition early with a run right to the goal mouth. Within three minutes both Kieran and Max had made attempts at goal, narrowly missing on both counts.

With the play rapidly shifting back and forth of the length of the field the fatigue was evident on all the players. The Wallabies were awarded a penalty following an unsuccessful attempt at goal. The penalty was blocked by Ben at the cost of a nasty knock to the chin from the ball sidelining him for a few minutes.

Misfortune struck again shortly after. Max made another heroic run but clashed shins with a Wallaby defender as he attempted a kick for goal. Max collapsed following the accident and had to be carried from the field. Fortunately, though very painful, Max's injury turned out to be primarily bruising.

In a moment of confusion following recommencement of play the Wallabies scored an own goal but soon made amends for this with a determined run on the Seaforth end. Despite determined defensive work from Emerson, Charlie and Will the Wallabies scored. Only a minute later the next Wallaby kick for goal was saved by Nicholas. The Wallabies intercepted the goalie's kickout sending it back for the equalizer. In the dying minutes yet another attempt at goal was saved by Nicholas and then the final whistle sounded and the match was tied.

It was a very physical and exhausting game, well played by all the players. Seaforth's man of the match was Max Nyssen.

Seaforth U8 Dragons V Beacon Hill Foxes
3-1

Much to the parents delight Saturday saw the boys running onto the pitch in perfect sunny winter conditions at the picturesque Condover Reserve.

The first half proved to be a tough game for the Dragons. We saw lots of possession of the ball and good kicking skills from Scott and Mitchell moving the ball up the field followed by a few attempts at goal from Hugo and Liam however it seemed the boys were having similar luck to that of the Socceroo's Vs Brazil on Monday morning.

Then the pressure was on when the Beacon Hill Foxes had a break-away from the far end of the field and both team's came charging down the field where Dylan and finally Jared the last line of defence had no hope of stopping the stampede and the first goal of the game was scored. Nice try Jared!

However much like the Socceroo's versus Japan game the Dragons re-grouped and re-focussed following the brilliant guidance from coach Steve O'Neil to see Hugo, who was much like a Terrier with the ball all day, put the ball into the net to draw even. This followed by brilliant defence with Mitchell and Carl using their big boots to continually push the ball into the oppositions half.

Kolia rounded up the ball in the mid-field numerous times and one occasion passed to Carl who teared up the side line to put a truly professional goal pounding into the back of the net. Dylan maintained the defence with a great stop at goals followed by a great kick down the field where the terriers Hugo and Liam (almost fighting over the ball between themselves) worked off Scott to bring the final score to 3-1.

Well done boys and thanks to Beacon Hill Foxes for the 7 aside game.

Seaforth U8 Sharks vs Narrabeen Falcons
Result: 6-0 Win
Goalscorers: Pierce, Finn 2, Sean 2, Liam
Man of the Match: Connor

After a week of the World Cup bleary eyed parents fronted up for a match in glorious sunshine against the Falcons.

With all the excitement on TV could the Sharks be favourably compared to the sumptuous football being played in Germany? Could Liam be compared to the imperial Michael Ballack, Jack to Wayne Rooney – but with all bones intact, Sean to Lucas Neill, Finn to Ronaldinho – but with a much better hairdo, Connor to Tim Cahill, Murray to Marco Bresciano, Pierce to David Beckham – without the dreadful Posh, and Henry to Andriy Shevchenko. You bet they could!

A week’s break saw them come out firing with intent. Pierce got the show rolling and Connor setup the next with a magnificent run and simple, unselfish layoff for Finn to fire home. Glorious! The quality of passing from all the boys was great to watch as they started stringing multiple passes together.

After the break Finn cracked another and Sean 2 more either side of a Liam wonder strike from near enough to halfway. Murray was terrific with a number of chances slipping just wide. Liam showed great confidence to advance the ball forward from defence with some lovely ball skills.

Connor won man of the match to highlight the importance of a hard-working midfielder who sets up team mates with simple passes.

Seaforth U10/5 v Pittwater
Result: Seaforth 1 Pittwater 1

Great first half played by Seaforth, although we didn't score by then. Joseph played great in the first half as defender with not letting one ball even near the Seaforth goal.

Second half started off a bit slow and Pittwater started to put a lot of pressure on Seaforth, with eventually scoring a goal. This was enough incentive for Seaforth to fight back with Jessica scoring a brilliant goal in the last few minutes of the match.

Joseph was given the Man of Match which he had worked hard for and deserved whole heartedly.

Seaforth Ladies U10 Champs v BTH Raiders B
Seaforth Champs defeated BTH Raiders B 2-0 on Sunday 18 June at Seaforth Oval.

Our teamwork was superb and all our players held their positions and tackled the much bigger BTH players extremely well.

The strong combination of Tess, Samantha, Kate, Emily & Tara only let the opposition have two attempts at goals - one saved by Lauren in the first half and the other saved in the second half by Alana, in a spectacular Schwartzer style deflection!

Defence from BTH was also strong and we didn't have as many attempts at goals as usual, although Acacia and Molly gave it their best up front. Tara scored a goal in each half, and these were well positioned in the corner of the goals. Tara has now scored 14 goals for our team this season!

Player of the match - Kate

We have now played all the teams in the comp (and are still unbeaten) and next week we face Strikers at Collaroy Plateau, at the chilly time of 8.30am (our last early game of the season apart from the gala day).

Seaforth Ladies U12/2A Flamingos v Manly Vale
Score: 3-0
Scorers: Saskia Hartog, Jane Machart and Ciara Harding
Best: Jacinta Mallon, Brooke O'Toole

While Frank was away on his German study tour, the Flamingos maintained form with a fine 3-0 win against Manly Vale.

Under considerable pressure to help the girls to maintain their unbeaten run, Steve coped admirably as the substitute coach. Of course, a little of the credit must go to the girls, who played another solid and effective game.

Although not pressed as hard on Sunday than by some of the other teams, many of the Flamingos had to adapt to playing out of their normal position. Saskia, playing forward for the first time this season, scored a great goal in her farewell game. Ciara was a bit quiet in the first half (being goalie can do that) but she came alive in the second, and scored a very good goal.

The third was scored by Jane, who kept things solid in the centre. Special mentions must go to Sophia, who early on took Manly Vale on single-handedly while the other girls warmed up, and Jacinta, who each week becomes more authoritative in midfield (and possesses a mighty big boot as well). Brooke’s practice is paying off and she is playing better and better each week. She was the worthy winner of the most improved award.

Finally, a heartfelt farewell to Saskia for the season. She has been a big part of what makes the Flamingos so special. We all wish her a happy and successful time overseas, and look forward to seeing her again next year.

Seaforth Ladies U12/3 Champs V Forest-Killarney
Seaforth Champs 5 Forest-Killarney 0

A wonderful winter's morning, and soccer skills to match from the Champs. They took their time warming up, but once they found their stride, our young ladies were unstoppable. The opposition was very spirited, and put us under a lot of pressure at times, but the Champs never looked back after the first goal. To perhaps better illustrate that point: our goalies (one in each half) did not have to make a save all game!

We were slow out of the blocks, and it took 15 minutes of tough football before Chelsea make the break. She finished off beautifully after some wonderful build-up work, and then cracked her second right on half time. Again, good team-work laid the foundations, but Chelsea's non-stop running game and finishing ability was on display big-time.

It was Champs deluxe in the second half. Rachael W is normally assigned to patrol the back, but she came forward today with spectacular results. She scored twice, both goals the result of some terrific individual ball skills. The second was perhaps one of the goals of the season: Rachael took the ball to the line, cut back, jinked her way through several players and then blasted home from close range. 4-nil, but we weren't finished, Amber adding the fifth with a brilliant lob over the keeper's head. Lovely skills. And if their goalie in the second half hadn't had a blinder, we might well have racked up double figures. Great stuff.

Well played, ladies, and we'll see you at training on Wednesday.

After two weeks off due to wet weather, a reality check for the Blues. Lots of individual stand out performances but a poor team performance overall, against a well drilled and skilled team.

The girls will have to communicate and encourage one another a lot better next week against the top team, Curl Curl.

Great effort from both the goalies Amy and Kate. Some nice breaks from Kellie and good mid field play by Amelia.

Big improvement needed in positional play, support play and ball control. In other words fill the gaps and support the attacking players.

A lovely but chilly morning in Avalon, what more could we want but a win over the Avalon team after an unexpected draw!

Mums and Dads chanting on the sideline 'RUN, RUN WOOOOO!!!' and Maurice's chants of 'PASS TO THE WING' was the main statement this week for the game.

In the first half Sam had a ripper of a run up the side-line, giving a perfect pass to Lucy who then went on to score our first goal. Avalon retaliated with a quick goal shortly after but after half time we went to set things straight.

The second half was amazing the team pulling all together, and the champ of a child Chloe running all the way from back to score a most deserving goal.

Seaforth U6 Crows v Strikers Explorers
Score: 2-4

It was very cold and very windy and the Crows were playing the Explorers who looked like they were from The Land Of The Giants! Our mighty team were not put off.

Lily started off with 2 great runs with the ball and a goal! Finlay played defence with some great kicks and played on even when injured. Alex G bravely tackled the larger opponents and ended up with some bruises.

Zac was goalie in the first half and risked injury as he grabbed the ball and the Explorers and the ref decided it was ok to keep kicking the ball when Zac had his hands on it! The Explorers scored three goals in the first half.

It was too cold for half-time fruit and the Crows were shivering but they ran back on with determination and courage. Callum had some great kicks and 2 shots at goal as did Jacob and Zac. Will showed great ball control and attacked the larger players constantly. Lily came off injured from a big tackle just as Alex M made a great save as our second half goalie. The Giants oops The Explorers scored their 4th goal with a huge kick. Fearless George played an amazing game. With gritted teeth he tackled, passed and ran with the ball to ultimately score our 2nd goal and the player of the match trophy!

Seaforth U6 Redbacks v Brookvale Squids
Result: Redbacks 2 Brookvale Squids 2

A see sawing match saw the Redbacks come back strongly after trailing 2-0 early in the second half. A cold blustery day prevented the Redbacks from playing their normal freeflowing game and the brains of the team Coach Tim modified tactics perfectly to adapt to the conditions.

Highlights in the first half included some spirited defensive efforts by Connor and Jasper, and some typical bustling runs down the sideline by Josh, Nick and the mysterious "Liam" who was unknown to all before today's match.

At half time, Coach Tim was seen giving his team a right earful - a new tactic and one which seemed to do the trick because the lads and ladettes came out in the second half completely pumped. Note to Coach Tim - this seems to work better than the usual offer of free playstations to the first goalscorer.

Worthy of note in the second half were Olivia and Julia who worked tirelessly in defence tackling like monsters on fire. Tom put his body on the line when in goals and the team were rewarded shortly after with their first goal when a crisp strike by Josh bounced off 1, 2, 3 players to dribble into goal exactly as planned.

As the match wore on, parents got nervous but the kids held their nerve with a steely determination. With just minutes to go, Bennett chose his moment perfectly and unleashed a frenzied attack that drew the scores level after a cracking snap from his right boot bamboozled the Squids goalie.

Despite several more attacking raids from the Redbacks, they were unable to get the extra goal they needed to steal the game.

What an amazing game this week, we have come leaps and bounds. Well done guys.

The first half kept us running and on our toes, with Ben C and Liam on the ball. Liam did one of his amazing kicks and scored first goal. Great job.

Todd, Matt and Nic C all had their fair chance and with Philip, Ben V, and William working as an team Liam scored our second goal. Nic V did an amazing job at keeping the Bats from scoring.

The second half was just exciting with Todd scoring our third goal. An amazing kick Todd. The Bats Managed to score 2 goals past Liam in goals, but our spirits were still high even thought we were tiring. 15 seconds before full time the Bats scored their 3 goal making it 3 all.

Well done. Thanks for a great game Bats.

Players of the match went to Liam and Todd.

Seaforth U6 Bears v Pittwater Wallaroos
U6 Bears have the Wallaroos for dinner

The U6 Bears had a fantastic follow up to a mid season winning spell. The Bears sought the map and headed up to Kitchener to tackle the Pittwater Wallaroos.

Unfortunately this writer was not present, but the word has it that the Bears shined through.

The practice training seems to be running through their veins and they are strong and keen to take on the second half of the draw.

Well done Bears

Seaforth U/6 Panthers vs Forest/Killarney Sharks
Wow….the Panthers have really improved over the last couple of weeks and this match at a freezing Melwood Oval was no exception.

The first half started with a bang as Stirling hammered a goal past the stunned Forest goalkeeper after only a couple of minutes. This half was dominated by the Panthers, and Forest only had a couple of chances which were well saved by our 'keeper Eddie, particularly one effort which had him diving low to his left.

Jay scored a goal by staying cool under pressure, while also contributing in defence with some excellent trapping skills. Zara was heavily involved this week, calling loudly for the ball and keeping it moving towards our attack. Wayne competed hard in the pack and was unlucky not to score after a dribbling breakaway run towards goal.

Byron ran the whole match and attacked the goal a number of times and was rewarded with his first goal of the season after Stirling did some excellent lead up work and gave a nice pass to put him into space. Ben showed his strength in tackling hard and moving the ball through the midfield, while Bryan consistently cleaned up any breakaways from the Forest attack with some strong chasing and tackling.

Eddie made the most of his time in the field in the second half with some strong kicks and one very impressive tackle after chasing down a breakaway where Forest really threatened to score.

A fantastic effort across the whole park by the entire team... well done.

Seaforth U7 Dragons v Avalon Goannas
Another great game from both teams with the Dragons winning 4 -0.

There was great teamwork shown by all players with a lot of passing skills being demonstrated.

Scott scored the opening goal with Liam showing his speed and accuracy by scoring the other 3 goals. Hugo once again showed his ability at heading while Mitchell was a great all rounder kicking one of the key passes to enable Liam to score.

All in all another great effort by all the team members.

Man of the match: Mitchell

Seaforth U7 Funnel Webs v Pittwater Seahorses
Funnelwebs 5 Seahorses 1

It turns out that Kitchener 3 is the Funnel Webs "lucky" ground with a second good win here for the season.

A great team effort saw the Funnelwebs on top right from the first whistle. The amount of passing is definitely increasing and also the team is starting to spread out more on the field.

Beth had a great game, constantly on the attack and this was rewarded with a good goal. Ben had a good game which also saw him get 2 great goals.

Connor played very well, tackling, passing and also attacking the goal. Adian did not get to see much action today being in goal but when the ball came his way he did well. Brigid had a good game and keeps trying hard.

We saw Finian making a number of fast runs up the field which resulted in him getting 2 goals - well done ! Michael was busy in the mid field making plenty of important tackles, Timmy had a good game, with plenty of tackling and passing. Josh played well all game being right in the action for the whole game.

A good team effort - well done.

U7 Seaforth Panthers v Manly Allambie Tigers
Score: Panthers 3 Tigers 1

On the coldest match day so far, both teams did plenty of running up the field for attempts on goal (and to keep warm!).

Watched by their coach Emily, the Panthers rose to the challenge in the first half, with Jack Lucas controlling the ball from some distance to score the first goal.

The Manly Allambie Tigers equalised in the second half, making for a very exciting game. The Panthers used great team work to be in position for several more shots which were well saved.

The Panthers did not lose focus. Marcus Allen dribbled the ball to set up the second goal by Jack. In the final moments of the match, a Panthers corner was skillfully turned into a goal by Max Sinclair.

Man of the match was awarded to Marcus Allen for his control of the ball, good defense and work around the goal. Congratulations to the Panthers and well done Jack and Max for your goals.

U7 Seaforth Leopards v HS United Wobbegongs
Result: 5-0 to the Leopards (Scorers: Kieran 4; Jadon 1)

This game got off to the best possible start for Seaforth Leopards. Wobbegongs kicked off, Leopards intercepted, Kieran ran from half-way, beating a number of players before scoring with a cool finish from 8 yards. 1-0 Leopards (15 seconds on the clock!!)

The rest of the first half was one-way traffic with some fantastic offensive play from Leopards. Leopards showed great team-spirit and won the midfield battle with Jadon, Ben, William and Emerson winning possession. On the few occasions, the ball did get into Leopards half, Charlie won some great tackles to get Leopards on the attack again.

Wobbegongs' goalie kept her team in the game with some impressive saves, with Kieran unlucky a number of times. The most exciting action came mid-way through the half, with Emerson seeing his shot come back off the far post of Wobbegongs' goal, Kieran hitting the other post with the rebound and the Wobbegongs' goalie saving a third Leopards' shot.

Shortly after this, Leopards did score, making it 2-0. Some good play from Jadon, William and Emerson got us into Wobbegong's penalty area, the ball fell to Kieran who coolly scored with the outside of his right foot. (Half Time: 2-0 Leopards).

For the second half, Charlie took over from Nicholas in goal for Leopards, with both players performing really well. History very nearly repeated itself from the kick off, with Kieran going on a great run from half way, shooting from 12 yards and seeing his shot come off the inside of the far post and roll along the line into the arms of the Wobbegongs' goalie. Wobbegongs came into the game after this and only some good defence from Leopards and fine goal-keeping from Charlie kept us from conceding.

Then came the sucker punch for Wobbegongs. After a great run on the LHS of Leopards half, Jadon passed forward to Kieran who ran through on goal, scored and made it 3-0 to Leopards. This was quickly followed by goals 4 and 5 for Leopards, with Jadon scoring with a great shot from outside the Wobbegongs' box and Kieran scoring again from close range. To their credit, Wobbegongs fought back and should have scored during 2 attacks of their own, Charlie happy to see both shots go wide of his goal.

The game closed out with a fine run from William, as he beat 2 Wobbegongs players, ran deep into Wobbegongs' half, and then only lost out to a last ditch tackle from the final Wobbegongs' defender with the goal in his sight.

An excellent all round performance from Leopards, all players doing really well.

Go Leopards Go !!

Seaforth U8 Kangaroos v Curl Curl Dingos
Kangaroos go down 0-1 in nailbiter

The Kangaroos played some desparate soccer today, with many raids, strong defence and lots of near misses, but an early Curl Curl goal proved the difference.

All game the Kangaroos pressed for the equaliser, with Liam Nelson, Celeste and Michael (Mr Motion) leading the charge.

Evan the rock in defence, Liam Simes the all over field coverage, David strong in goals, but it was the footwork skills of Isabella (taking out the "encouragement award") and Gemma's raids ("player of the day") that shone brightest on this chilly Saturday.

Sideline supporters of the week - Sarah, Eliza and Sophia (under the rug all game)

Seaforth U8 Tassie Devils v Strikers Sharks
Oooh, a chilly morning for our excited players, parents and friends at St Matthews Farm.

It was a tough game with many balls from another field appearing on our field, interesting umpiring, floating coffee cups and a few injuries on those little cold bodies. At least there were no dogs trying to take the field this time.

Both Daniel Kernaghan and Richard Zhang took their positions to goalies with absolute perfection. Daniel saved some beauties whilst Richard was certainly much improved from last game. Lucy, Eden, Hamish and Isabel played well in defense as Lilli, Cameron and Kelly ran their legs as fast as they could go.

We were all so proud of their efforts. We won the game 3-2 and celebrated with a Happy Meal afterwards.

Seaforth U8 Sharks vs Manly Vale Hawks
Result: 1-0 Win
Goalscorers: Finn
Man of the Match: Sean

A week is a long time in top level sport! After the huge goal scoring feats of last weekend there were early indications than the Sharks would continue on with that resounding form as Finn slotted an early goal.

However, the early form soon evaporated. Obviously the team needs lots of rain and cold to get them going. This was a scratchy, dour affair. While the Hawks never really threatened our goal, by the same token we never threatened theirs.

Back to the training ground to get that free-flowing passing game going! Sean continued his great form from last weekend for a well-deserved man of the match. No goals from him this week but nothing could get past him in a great defensive display.

Seaforth U9 Dolphins v Curl Curl Yellow Panthers
Result: 0-5 Loss
Players of the week: Hannah and Ciara

Despite a chilly wind and cloudy skies the girls took to the field enthusiastically armed with the knowledge that there were no subs available for the game.

An early defensive play by Sarah's face in the first half levelled her to the ground and meant we were down a player for a few minutes. Nevertheless the team played on, armed with Coach Peter's game strategies.

Ciara was focussed in defence and there were a number of great runs with the ball by Hannah and Georgina. Claudia and Emily were right in the action with plenty of tackles being made. Anna showed us her skill at passing the ball to her team mates, whilst Tara remained steady in defence. Holly saved a number of goals attempts throughout both halves with ease.

The girls played with determination and as a team, and with the speedy recovery of our 3 sick team mates, a win is surely in the air!

A message from Maddy Spencer:
Hi Dolphins,
Am 100% better now and looking forward to our next game. Go the Dolphins!!!!!!!
You put in a lot of effort in last weeks game.
Congratulations Hannah & Ciara for players of the match!

Seaforth U10/5 v Mosman
Result: Seaforth 3 Mosman 0

What a match this was - great playing by Seaforth, a real team-effort! The first goal scored by Jackson after only 5 minutes and soon after a second great goal was scored by Rhys.

The team was passing really well and you could feel how well they were playing and being a team. There was really not much chance for Mosman to take over. Lewis scored a fantastic 3rd goal and there were quite some occasions for Seaforth to score more goals.

Second half Seaforth started off very well, with another two great chances to score, but unfortunately hit twice the goal-post instead. Mosman tried a few shots against the Seaforth goal, but were unsuccessful.

A great game and team effort and really well played by all the players. Man of the match went to Jackson for leading the game with a great first goal for Seaforth.

Seaforth Ladies U12/3 Champs v Beacon Hill Bears
Score: Seaforth Champs 3 Beacon Hill Bears 0

One of the most gratifying things a coach can see occurs when the players replicate their training on the pitch, and that happened in spades today for the Champs. We scored three times against a tenacious opponent, every goal coming because our players did what Digby has been asking for: supporting each other, and following up opportunities.

The game started brightly in very cold conditions, and it was an arm wrestle for the first 15 minutes. Neither side could get on top, and it was a real struggle in mid-field, but suddenly the Champs pounced: Amber wriggled free on the left and fired in a shot, the goalie parried, but Brigette was on hand to ram the ball home. Great following-up.

One nil at half time, but the Bears came out biting in the second. They put us under sustained pressure, forcing Rachel E-F to make one very good save, but then we cracked them open again. The goalie saved the first attempt, and bravely kept out a second, but pick-pocket Chelsea was there to fire home from close range with the precision of a surgeon.

Now we were rolling, and Rebecca stepped up to grab the final goal. This was a triumph for individual skill and tenacity: she took the ball into the square and collided head-on with the goalie; both girls reeled back, there was a furious tangle of legs and boots in the goal mouth, and then Bec stepped up to coolly slot home goal #3. Terrific stuff.

Much has been made in these reports of the goal-scoring abilities of the Champs, and acknowledgement of our hugely talented defensive line is overdue. Rachael W, Annalise, Emma, Emily, Clare, Rachael E-F, Claudia, Xenia, Georgia and Rhiann have all played with skill and determination at the back and in mid-field, and that's why our goals for and against is so strongly in our favour. Well played, ladies.

Seaforth Ladies U12/2A Flamingos v Forest Killarney
Result: 0-0
Best Players: Ella Farley and Saskia Hartog

This week’s game was another tough, hard-fought tussle against a very spirited and well-organised opponent. The girls found the Forest defence difficult to penetrate and when they did create opportunities, were not able to capitalise.

There were however some outstanding performances. Flamingo-of-the-match Ella was simply outstanding in defence once again, instinctively knowing where to be to break the attack with a penetrating return kick.

Ciara may not be finding the net as often this year, but her efforts week after week are just as valuable to the team. Nina, Jane, Sophia and Polly had to work exceptionally hard in the centre while our wingers, Jacinta and Kate, tried hard with limited ball.

Saskia kept extremely well in the first half (as did Jacinta in the second) and, as usual, fought hard all game. It is also great to see the new Flamingos, Ruby, Georgina and Brooke, playing with more and more confidence and skill each week.

It is clear now that there will be no easy games this year.

Seaforth Ladies U14/1B v Beacon Hill
What a chlly morning it was at Beacon Hill - I thought it would snow at any second!

Well with a score of 9/0 [Beacon Hill's way], you could fully expect that our girls were playing with heavy hearts. But no, their buoyant, happy dispositions continued to shine right to the end of the game - they are such a pleasure to watch!

Our goals were manned by Eugenie Eldridge in the first half and she was kept very busy defending and doing an amazing job. Sarah Ludowici showed some fantastic skills controlling the ball with great support from Genevieve Clark whose hard work continued right throughout the game. Lucy Rothquel - you so deserve a goal! Keep up the good work Lucy. Emma Atkins' fighting spirit is a force to be reckoned with and Katie Becker worked hard gaining ball possession.

The second half saw Holly Pears bravely take on the red shirt in goals and save goal after goal - you did a terrific job Holly. Lauren Adams-Finlay played a really great game with tough relentless defence, backing the super talents of Lauren Winton, Lauren Smart and Olivia Slip whose skills continue to climb every week. Kate Haverfield never ceases to amaze me, so tiny but so fierce and Jodie Wall's long strong kicks definitely have the 'wow' factor.

All in all, an inspiring game.
