Seaforth U8 Sharks V Avalon Marlins
Score: Us 4 Them 0
Goalscorers: Pierce 2, Murray, Sean
Man of the Match: Jack
The end of an era came with typical Sharks flair! This is the last time I can mention the Sharks biting or mauling or chomping their teeth or having a feeding frenzy or getting speared or taking the bait. Hopefully, my daughter starts her footy career next year playing for an equally ferocious fish/animal team, and not the Pussycat’s, so as I can work on appropriate hyperbole.
Thankfully the last game of the season was against our equally fishy friends from the far northern peninsula, the Avalon Marlins, and, appropriately, our team struggled to master the UBD and get there on time; a lost Henry wandering over to check out who was playing well after the kick-off.
This was the same ending to the season as last year when we also ventured to Avalon and Pierce excelled in front of his cheering cousins. Pierce picked up from where he finished last year and fired home an early goal to set the ball rolling. There was great movement from all the boys as they constantly looked to attack with Connor being excellent in slipping some lovely passes through. It didn’t take long before Pierce was wheeling away from goal, arm raised in triumph, after a second well struck goal.
But then the Marlins bit hard on that hook and dragged themselves back into the contest. There were some close calls as their nippy forward line made a couple of great breaks, beating the finely tuned Sharks offside trap, that required desperate defending from Sean, Connor and Liam, in goals, who saw plenty of action and could only watch as some shots just scraped past the goalposts.
Undoubtably, the play of the first half (for this dedicated defender) was seeing Jack, our immoveable force in defence, flying across the goal and hurling himself in front of the ball to save a certain goal. Man of the match was sown up right then and there but Jack proceeded to showcase that he thoroughly deserved it with some great breaks, passing and fearless tackling that helped spear the Marlins.
Henry eventually made it onto the field and proceeded to carve up some Marlin steaks with some great bursts from excellent through balls. Half-time! Oranges! Murray pigged out again but, unfortunately, his normal orange pig-out partner, Finn, was shushing down the slopes of Thredbo.
In the second half, Murray, after constant talk during the week from his dad (Coach!) to take his shots a bit closer to goal lined up a shot from a mile away and proceeded to blast it into the top-left corner. Brilliant! His smile to the crowd had an element of take that dad!
With the seconds counting down and with Sean getting shirty about being substituted so close to the final whistle, while not having scored, came on in the last minutes and promptly charged forward to plant a wonderful goal into the far corner and earn himself top goal-scorer for the season. Defenders Rule!
So, after 3 years, 46 games, 40 wins, 4 draws and 2 losses, with 156 goals for and a miserly 26 against (great teams are built on their defence!) which averages out at 3.39 goals per game for (rounded up to 4) and 0.57 against (rounded down to 0) and after facing numerous wonderful opposition like the fantastic Ferraris, Wolves, Yabbies, Snappers, Bears, Barracudas and other ferocious animals (but probably not the Honeyeaters) this wonderfully talented team assembled from all corners of the globe (well, actually just Australia, England, Germany and Switzerland) bade farewell to their loyal followers.
Some other interesting, but completely meaningless, comments;
(1) the Sharks recorded 9 wins and 2 draws against Fish opponents with 34 goals for and 4 against thereby declaring themselves rulers of the seas
(2) Snake and Lizard opponents got hammered
(3) Feathered opponents were slaughtered
(4) Bears, Foxes, Lions, Wolves and other 4-legged, furry animals are tough
(5) Cars smash Sharks
(6) training sessions are best consumed by mother’s with a glass of wine in hand
(7) pre-season tours are compulsory
(8) Anthony cooks the best bbq.
Great fun was had by one and all. Thank you linesmen, thank you referees Stefan, Jim and Peter, coach Neil and trainer Patrick. Thank you Janet and Jude for all the (social) organising. Bernadette for the training bibs.
And thank you, in particular, to all the mighty Sharks.
They are, in alphabetical order:
Connor, Finn, Henry, Jack, Liam, Murray, Pierce and Sean.
Great players all! Bring on the U9’s!

Seaforth 15/2 Pansies V Pittwater
GRAND FINAL
SEAFORTH PANSIES 1 PITTWATER 1
at Cromer Park Sat 2nd September 2006
From Pansies to Premiers
After extra time, Seaforth U15/2 were crowned joint premiers in a 1 all draw with Pittwater.
The Pansies, as the boys called themselves were graded in division 3 at the commencement of the season. But after 5 matches, undefeated with an average of 6 goals a match the association decided to grade the teams again and the Pansies found themselves up in division 2.
After a defeat at the hands of Pittwater in their first division 2 match some questioned the wisdom of playing up. On a very wet Saturday at Careel Bay the Pansies came up against the competition leaders, Avalon, the runaway leaders in division 2. The boys soon showed they had remarkable spirit. On wet ground with the rain pelting down the Pansies refused to give up despite twice being behind on the scoreboard and drew the game 3 all.
As luck would have it, Seaforth came up against Avalon again in the semi final and won a tough and pulsating contest with a goal in extra time.
Last Saturday lived up to its forecast. Twenty six degrees was hot for early September and too hot to play football. Pittwater scored early off a free kick from outside the penalty area which soared above everyone into the back of the net.
Despite the heat, Seaforth continually pressed and harassed the Pittwater defense which refused to wilt. With only 3 minutes to go a great through ball saw Seaforth attack the Pittwater goal one last time to score.
Before extra time commenced, Pittwater ran off the field for refreshments and words of wisdom from their coach whereas Seaforth stayed on the ground in a huddle, without their coach, gaining strength from each other showing they wanted to win more than the opposition.
With a fantastic display of skill and determination combined with a never say die attitude and a willingness to support their teammates that surprised parents, the coaching team and most importantly the opposition, the Pansies and Pittwater finished extra time tied at nil all.
Congratulations... Pansies!!

Seaforth U18/3 V HSU
GRAND FINAL
SEAFORTH 3 HSU 0
Cromer Park
The boys were pumped, excited and a little nervous. Although Seaforth 18/3 had a good track record against HSU (3/3 wins), it was agreed that they were the hardest team in the league and it would not be a walk in the park.
But the match started off as well as we could of hoped, a driven free kick by Simon Giles pierced the wall and nearly the back of the net in the 4th min. The celebrations started early...
With the defense staying strong and the midfield (Zenta Staley, Richard Wythers, Roan, Johno Tat, Jake Wynberg, Fergus Cappy-Wood, Time Casey) dominating the centre of the field along with some dangerous wing-play, Seaforth had total control over the first half.
After several near misses later in the half from Johno Tat and Tim Casey a second goal was finally grasped off a corner. Cool, calm and collected Jake Wynberg tapped the ball in at the rear post and gave the team a comfortable 2 goal difference. Half time was called with a sigh of relief on the 25° day.
During the 2nd half it could be seen that HSU came back out with a point to prove. Their determined attacking line put the Seaforth defense in many difficult positions; however the ability of the back line (Brett Hartley-Wilson, Andy Rawson, Alex Harris and Beau Patterson, Matt Fletcher) and keeper (Andrew Barber) prevented the HSU attackers from getting a clear shot, let alone a goal.
The third and final goals of the game came from a long ball to the wing, finding Johno Tat. Using his speed he flew through the defense and slotted the ball into the goal with ease. For a moment after that, the game turned sour as a HSU player was given 2 consecutive yellow cards and was sent off for 'foul play' during the set up of a free kick.
The final whistle was finally blown and the celebrations began, gracious in defeat the HSU congratulated Seaforth on the win.
WELL DONE BOYS, MAJOR AND MINOR PREMIERS! A WONDERFUL SEASON!

Seaforth U6 Seals V Pittwater Bilbies
The Seals were in fine form again this week with Ben V keeping out the goals. Todd scored our first 2 goals followed by Ben C, Nic C and then Todd again. Todd was in fine form and Nic V played some good moves to stop the Bilbies. The Bilbies kept us on the edge of our seats.
Second half was just as action packed & the kids didn’t want to stop. Ben C scored another 2 goals, William scored 2, Liam scored one and Nic C scored another 2. Philip stopped the Bilbies from scoring in the goals and did some big kicks.
What a way to end the season.
Well done Seals we are so proud of how far you have come.
Final score 12 Nil.

Seaforth U6 Panthers V Manly Vale Dragons
It seemed fitting for the Panthers to line up for their last game of the season at their familiar home ground of Condover 1. It has been a long season, and again we were a little slow out of the blocks, with some good kicking and tackling, but a little flat when it came to chasing after the ball.
Byron provided some first half spark with his bustling tackling and dribbling, and Jay showed great ball control, including a great shot on goal with his trademark left boot, that was well saved by the Dragons' keeper. Zara did a good job in goals and cleared the ball with some fantastic kicks while Stirling injected himself into the game and made an impact with his first goal.
The second half saw Eddie involve himself in some brave tackling, working hard to clear the ball from the pack and Wayne took the opportunity of dribbling into the Dragons' half when he was given the ball with some space. Bryan cleaned up a lot of loose balls and set our attack in motion with his passing skills, which Ben put to use with some great runs keeping Manly Vale under pressure. Stirling capitalized on this with another three goals, using skill to loop the ball over the goalkeeper's head.
This was another great team effort, which kept the pressure on the opposition and never really let them into the match as shown by the little work needed by our goalies. We have really improved and gelled as a team throughout the season and everyone should be proud of what they achieved in their first year of football.
Thanks to all the parents who have shown their support to the team this year, we had a great turnout at every match, which definitely lifts the team and does a lot for the kids' confidence. We would also like to say a special thanks to Di who worked extremely hard behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly and was a huge help during our first year of coaching. See you all at the gala day!!

Seaforth U7 Dragons V Wakehurst Cougars
Score: Seaforth Dragons 8 Wakehurst Cougars 0
Man of the Match: Dylan Jones
What an amazing game on which to end the season. The team was on fire and hungry for as many goals as they could get.
Mitchell, the birthday boy, scored 2 with a fantastic one across the goals from right field. Hugo's fighting spirit gave him 2 well deserved goals and he showed off his ability to header the ball.
Carl with his fancy footwork tricked the opposition and scored two sneaky goals. Dylan, Jarred and Callum showed great team spirit by getting the ball into position for their team mates to take the glory of scoring the goals - well done boys.
The crowds went wild when Scott put in the 7th goal of the game and Liam scored shortly afterwards with an eighth. Kolio and Mitchell were outstanding goalies not letting a single opposition ball past their defence.
The crowds were ecstatic at the teams performance throughout the season and will definitely be following their heroes next year!!

Seaforth Ladies 12/3 Champs V Avalon
GRAND FINAL
SEAFORTH CHAMPS 1 AVALON 0
at Cromer Park 27th August 2006
Avalon came down to Cromer prepared for battle, and challenged the Champs in a way they'd not experienced all year.
I don't think anyone would have been surprised if Avalon had snatched this grand final, because they played really well, but superb defence, unbelievable goal-keeping and a brilliantly-taken opportunity late in the game won the day for the mighty Champs.
Seaforth started more positively, and forced three early corners, but solid scrambling defence from the Avalon ladies kept the Champs at bay. We might have scored but just couldn't convert half-chances into goals.
Suddenly it was Avalon's turn, and a lightning-fast raid almost paid dividends. Rachael Ewing-Flynn found herself alone in the goal, Avalon hard on attack: the first shot was parried away, and then she had to dive in spectacular fashion to deny the Reds a goal.
Now the Champs were under siege, and a new Avalon attack brought another superb save from Rachael. The halftime whistle couldn't come soon enough, because Avalon seemed to be growing in confidence.
The Champs came out firing after the break, & started to impose some early authority, but Avalon came powering back. Once again they laid siege to our goal & Rachael had to make a dramatic diving save to her left. Two Avalon corners were scrambled away, but the Champs were right under the pump. Could we hold on?
Suddenly, almost from nothing, came the turning point. The Champs finally cleared it downfield, and the girls pushed forward. The ball was taken into the Avalon box, then cleared; in again, and cleared again, but Annalise had drifted up and found herself in the middle of the pitch about 30 metres out from goal. A lovely long, powerful ball fell deep in the square, and somehow the Avalon goalie had three Seaforth attackers right on top of her and no help in sight. One shot was blocked, and the goalie appeared to have it covered, but Brigette swooped, took the ball from the Avalon fingertips and speared it into the back of the net. A really good, gritty goal that energised the team and the spectators.
There were still 10 minutes to go, and Avalon refused to lie down. More pressure was exerted, minutes seemed to take forever, and wave after wave of red jersies threatened a late equaliser, but finally the whistle went and our young ladies had completed a most remarkable season, giving supercoach Digby his first grand final success in many, many years of football.
Thanks for a great year, Digby: you certainly brought out the best in our girls. And thanks, too, to the parents, the grandparents, the siblings and the Seaforth club itself, because this club has a lovely "feel" about it. It's a family club, and it was terrific to see so many happy faces at the end. Well done, ladies.
For the record, we won 15 of our 16 games for the year (four were lost to the rain), and the Champs scored 62 goals while conceding only four. The last time we conceded a goal was way back on May 21st against Wakehurst when the Champs won 2-1 at home.

Seaforth U6 Panthers V Mosman Falcons
The Panthers started this game with great conviction. Running up a considerable slope in the first half, they played most of the opening ten minutes inside the Falcons' territory.
Eddie made some crunching tackles and used every opportunity to keep the ball moving in the right direction. Byron played his usual busy game, particularly in defense where he stripped the ball off the Falcons again and again. When we had the ball we used it well by passing to create space for ourselves and Wayne used a couple of these opportunities to make great dribbling runs deep into the Falcons' area.
I'm particularly proud of how we worked as a team and encouraged each other, especially Jay who also showed great ball control on many occasions, dragging high bouncing balls down and moving them forward. Zara threw herself into the action, particularly in the second half where she intercepted loose balls and passed them on.
We spoke before the match about keeping our intensity up and chasing the whole game and Ben and Bryan led the way in the second half, showing great energy right to the end. Stirling worked hard and showed nice skills by using the outside of his boot to round the defense and put a solid shot on goal.
This game was another example of how far you've improved individually and as a team... well done Panthers!

Seaforth U6 Kingfish V Seals
Another great start with Ben C goals and plenty of action by Todd. There was plenty of support by Nic C, Matt, Philip, Ben & Nic V, William. Nic C stopped the Kingfish from entering dangerous ground many times with some big kicks. Todd did some of his clever skills that he learnt at soccer camp. The Kingfish scored one goal in the second half but our spirits were high.
The second half was just as action packed with Nic V in goals. Ben C had plenty of energy from being in goals and went on and scored two goals. Many attempts by Todd and Nic C but the Kingfish goalie was hard to get past. An amazing run of the field Matt had and went on and scored our third goal.
Another amazing game with the final score being 3-1 to the Seals. Player of the match went to Nic C, Todd, Matt and Ben C.

Seaforth U6 Bandits V Tigers
An even game at the beginning, with chances in both sides.
Then the Tigers playing strong, scoring twice. Ryan a few times in attacking mode, our goalie Jake saving superbly. The Tigers once again twice successful.
Great fight by the Bandits in second half, but our defence could not prevent the Tigers from scoring. Lucas kicking the ball while lying on the ground. Great team effort in a very fast game. Well done Bandits!!

Seaforth U7 Leopards V Wakehurst Pumas
It was a tough battle between the Seaforth Leopards and the Wakehurst Pumas.
Early on Emerson showed great defence, as did Nick who made tackle after tackle and ended up with Man of the Match award. Charlie made 2 great saves as Wakehurst tested Seaforth’s defence. But Seaforth struck back with a goal by Kieran.
In the second half Wakehurst came out strong with a number of shots on goal and despite Max’s great defensive efforts Wakehurst scored, levelling the score. But Seaforth stepped up their intensity and had 3 shots on the Wakehurst goal unfortunately without result.
Both teams were attacking and defending really well, but some good teamwork from Kieran and Max resulted in Seaforth’s second goal. Emerson made a great defensive tackle late in the second half and Max had another shot at Wakehurst’s goal unsuccessfully.
The final few minutes were tense as the Seaforth parents wished the ref to blow his whistle which he did soon after with a victory to the Seaforth Leopards 2-1.

Seaforth U7 Dragons V Narrabeen Piranhas
Score: Seaforth Dragons 3 Narrabeen Piranhas 3
Man of the Match: Carl O'Neill
The Piranhas came onto the field with a show of strength and attacked the Dragons goals but the Dragons defenders (Scott, Dylan and Kolio) put up a tremendous fight and Liam was an amazing goalie stopping those balls that got through the defence.
Liam scored a great goal from left field right across the goals and Carl and Mitchell managed with apparent ease to pop in another one each. Jarred took the ball down the field a number of times and Callum was a star at interception.
Hugo put up a tremendous fight as goalie in the second half and it looked like we were going to take the game when the opposition slipped in a final goal in the dying seconds of the game to even the scores.

Seaforth U8 Tassie Devils V Pittwater Falcons
Wow, what a game.
A beautiful balmy day and all players were on fire. Cameron scored two goals whilst Lucy and Daniel once again kept the goals out. Isabel kicked the ball many times, Kelly played a great defensive game, and Eden made some excellent moves.
Joshy had a fabulous second half. Lilli also had a great running game. The score was 2 all and we were all so excited with the result.
Well done to The Tassie Devils and thanks to our coach, Rebecca.

Seaforth U8 Sharks V Mosman Cobras
Score: 6-0
Goalscorers: Sean 5, Pierce 1
Man of the Match: Sean
The future of Australian football is in safe hands after a 5-star performance from all the Sharks, and particularly Sean.
It required a check of the history books to verify that this was the most goals scored in a single game by any Shark over the 3 years they have played together. And that coming from one of the team’s most committed defenders! That shows just how much a bit of commitment to winning the ball and attacking the opposition can have on the confidence of a player.
In front of his granddad Andy, Sean was sensational from the outset with some great runs forward and a willingness to take on the opposition and shoot for goal that saw him score 2 sensational early goals. But that wasn’t at the expense of good teamwork as all the Sharks got to the ball first and looked to attack and pass.
There was lots of movement and great vision displayed by Finn and Connor with great passing that continually opened up the Cobras. Pierce was in menacing form and added a notch to his belt with the 3rd goal. Murray was showing plenty of fancy footwork and Jack was terribly unlucky to see a well-deserved goal rebound off the left upright.
The goals could really have come from anywhere as Liam too was in fine attacking form. Henry couldn’t wait to get out of goals to have a crack at the opposition but it was left to that man Sean to complete the scoring with 3 second half goals. Sensational!
There wasn’t any debate about player of the week but Sean was helped by a great performance from all the boys!

Seaforth Ladies U14/Div 2: Semi-Final: Blues V Forest Killarney
Loss 1-0 in extra time
What an amazing game! The girls played out of their brains. The coach, the managers, the spectators, were all out of their seats and cheering the girls on for an hour and twenty cliff-hanging minutes. We are so proud of our girls; of their individual play and how they have come together as a team!
The Blues, captained by Amy, kept the number one team, Forest Killarney scoreless for a very hard fought seventy-nine minutes. What an effort considering so many of the girls have been sick with the flu, (Amy, Amelia, Ali, Kellie, Natasha and Jessica), Georgia P had a stomach bug the night before, and both coach and goalie,(Catherine) got no sleep.
The first half started with the opposition on the attack and much of the first ten minutes was played in our half. Our defence however was more than up to the task and was not intimidated by a very aggressive attack. Catherine had some amazing saves, and kept as in the hunt. Seaforth then turned the game around and put the pressure on the opposition. The first half ended with no score, and a very surprised Forest Killarney! (Who thought we would be a walkover).
The second half was fabulous to watch, with both teams making breaks but neither team able to score a match winning goal. Individual brilliance from Ellie who nabbed the ball from not one but three Forest players, from Hannah who saved a sure goal right in front of the goal mouth, and Georgia P and Tara's great kicks up the centre that kept us in with a chance. No score at full time!
Extra time. More chances for both teams but no joy. Ten minutes down and the teams change ends. With approximately one minute left on the clock Forest got the breakaway and scored the match winning goal. Game over for this year.
The coaches, the managers, the parents and spectators would all like to thank the 'FABULOUS BLUES' for giving everything they had and playing their best game of the season - truly a GRAND FINAL PERFORMANCE!!!
3 points - Ellie, Catherine, Hannah
2 points - Tara, Georgia P, Amy
1 point - Lucia, Amelia, Jessica, Kate, Georgia N, Kellie, Natasha, Ali.
P.S. Don't forget 12 o'clock next Sunday.

Seaforth U6 Seals V Strikers Territories
Tough game this week as Ben and Nic V & Liam were sick. Get better guys.
William did some big kicks with Nicholas C staying on the attack and with no subs Seals felt the pressure. After the first half the score was nil all.
Second half was nail bitting with William in goals and Philip, Todd, Matt and Ben C trying their best. Ben C kept on running with Todd as his support, Nic C kept on the attack and did an amazing job.
2 mins before the game was over the Territories kicked a high goal. Well done for the attacking Nic. What a great game and I am sure there will be some very tired little bodies.
Players of the match went to Ben C, William, Todd and Nic C. Well done.

Seaforth U6 Currawongs V Wakehurst Dolphins
6-0
Having been slaughtered by the Dolphins earlier in the season, the Currawongs fought back with a vengeance and showed that they were on fighting form on their home pitch.
It seems that Neil's patient approach to teaching them passing is finally paying dividends with the team slicing through the opposition defence with some timely passes and surging runs, particularly from Eliot who scored four goals.
Support came Josh and Fintan, who scored a goal apiece, as well as Eliza and Lily. Matthew, Rory and Fintan were bold in defence ensuring the ball never got through.
The final score was 6-0 giving the Currawongs a jubilant victory with Eliot named Player of the Match.

Very good defence by Ryan. Big kick by Ryan full field, but save by Mosman goalie. Full field chase by Mosman, saved by Lucas. Goal by Mosman.
In all, great first half with a couple of runaways by Mosman, with good saves by Lucas. Excellent defence by Seaforth.
Kick off by Mosman. One save by Tobias, but Mosman kicked it straight back in to score. A lot of play by Mosman's goal. Second goal by Mosman.
Good battle half way with good kickout by James R-I. Nice throw-in by James R-I. Good intercept by Milly at goal. Four good saves by Tobias. Excellent save from goal by Ryan.
Great battle by Jake. Good chase up field by Jake to Ryan to James R-I down to Seaforth goal. Back up to Mosman and in, and another one by Mosman. Great save by Tobias.

Seaforth U6 Panthers V Avalon Sharks
This game really showed how far the Panthers have come against the same opponents we played in our first game of the season. The amount we have improved both individually and as a team was shown by the almost total lack of work required by our goalkeepers.
We started the first half with a bang when Bryan scored an early goal after pouncing on an Avalon throw-in and dribbling half the field. Byron was everywhere and worked hard the whole game, making runs with the ball in attack, tackling any Avalon player unlucky enough to get the ball, and ferociously chasing down any breakaways.
Eddie made an excellent attacking run with the ball down the left, deep into the Avalon half, and right in front of the big Seaforth crowd. Stirling made his presence felt at the back in defense with some big clearing kicks which gave Bryan the space to score two more times before half-time, once cleverly steering the ball with the outside of his foot, and once by hitting a crossed ball first time with his instep.
When Jay moved from goalkeeper to the field in the second half, he made up for lost time through his heavy involvement through the midfield, and was unlucky not to score after putting in a solid shot on goal which the Avalon 'keeper just managed to save.
Zara kept chasing the whole game and helped keep the ball moving forward while Wayne made two long runs in this half, one in either direction, to show his dribbling skills. Bryan chipped in another goal after controlling a clearing kick from the goalkeeper to finish a great display from the Panthers.
This was one of our best games all year where we dominated the opposition in attack and our relentless defense didn't give them even one chance to score.

Seaforth U7 Leopards V Pittwater Starfish
Keiran was in goal for the first half and made a couple of great saves. The Leopards had the lion’s share of possession in the first half, helped by lots of defense action from Ben and Charlie.
We kept the pressure on with Max having 5 great shots at goal, however their keeper was pretty good too and managed to save them. The other team had a breakaway run and shot but Keiran was there to clear it out. Charlie also had a good shot, and again the Starfish goalie was in the right spot to save it. We came off at half time with a Nil all score.
With Nicholas in goal this time the Leopards again stepped up the pressure. William took a shot at goal but was deflected by their goalie – bad luck. Max was strong in attack again with numerous goal tries that were just unlucky.
Emerson ran around 2 defenders and put a great ball down the line, but too far! Keiran had a challenging time getting around a strong opposing team player, but did manage to wrestle the ball away for a fantastic goal!
We won with a final score of 0-1. Well done Leopards on winning a tough game.

Seaforth U8 Kangaroos V Forestville Tigers
Score: Kangaroos 4 Tigers 0
Player of the week: The entire team
A well deserved win that was a long time coming. Goal keepers Liam Nelson in the first half and Liam Simes in the second half had little to do as the Kangaroos dominated for virtually the whole match.
The first goal was scored by Michael in the first minutes of the game with one of his usual running dribbles. There were several near misses that followed with perhaps the unluckiest being a kick by Celeste in the sixth minute that was well defended by the Tigers goalie.
The second half started much the same as first with a first minute goal by Liam Nelson, followed by a screaming 20 metre score by Celeste a couple of minutes later. Michael sealed the fourth goal in the sixth minute. The Tigers tried hard to get into the game but it wasn't going to be their day.
Apart from the aforementioned, it seemed as if all the Kangaroos had a great game including Isabella, David, Evan, Gemma, Liam Nelson seemed to have contributeded to a convincing win on the day.

Seaforth U8 Sharks V CC Strikers Snappers
Result: Sharks 0 – Snappers 2
Player of the Week: Henry
There were rivers of tears shed by the Sharks as they deservedly went down for their first defeat this season. A complacent Sharks outfit was well and truly spanked by an undermanned Snappers team that showed how a bit of determination, a fair degree of skill and, importantly, great teamwork can make up for any lack of numbers.
For a while, however, it looked as if the 5 Snappers would outnumber the Sharks as most of the team struggled to negotiate their way to the back blocks of Dee Why oval. Knowing they had an extra player the Sharks thought it would all happen from there and failed to get out of 1st gear and do the necessary running and tackling. Well done Snappers!
The highlight of the game from a Sharks perspective was Murray’s 1-man wall where his mind was on completely the wrong ball(s). Enough said!

Seaforth Ladies U12/3 Champs V Beacon Hill
SEAFORTH CHAMPS 5 BEACON HILL 0
After all the rain, it was a lovely day at home for the final match of the championship, and the quality of their play matched the brilliance of the late morning sunshine. It was tough and tight early on, but Champs clinched the league title with a well-earned 5-nil victory over a stubborn and skilful Beacon Hill.
Beacon Hill opened very brightly, and mounted a number of promising raids, but the Champs backline was equal to the challenge. It was turning into an arm wrestle when Rachael Waller opened the scoring on the 14 minute mark. She took the ball into the box but was bowled over by one of the Beacon Hill backs. However, Rachael was not to be denied, bouncing back to her feet, regaining the ball and beat two players before slotting it past the keeper.
One-nil at halftime was not a comfortable margin, but it was doubled right after the break by a piece of individual brilliance from Emily. She took the ball right to the Beacon Hill goal-line, cut back inside and then drilled the ball between post and keeper. Outstanding marksmanship.
It was 3 nil a minute later when Rhian finished off a goal-mouth scramble with a blistering shot, and then Rachael Waller grabbed her second by converting a penalty. Rhian was clear with only the goalie to beat when she was tripped from behind, and the ref had no hesitation in going to the spot. The keeper dived the right way, but the ball was in the back of the net.
The final goal was a just reward for someone who has never stopped running right through the year: Chelsea displayed the quickest reaction when Bec's long shot was parried away by the keeper, darting in to steer the ball home. Lovely stuff.
So ends the regular-season competition. Sadly, all teams missed out on some competition because of the wet weather, but the Champs record of 12 wins from 13 games is good enough to take the title. Even if they'd lost today, the ladies would have had a sufficiently good for-and-against record to win.
For the record, we won 13 of our 14 games (four were lost to the rain), and the Champs scored 59 goals while conceding only four. The last time our keeper had to get the ball from the back of the net was way back on May 21 against Wakehurst, when we scored a 2-1 win at home.
Special thanks once again to all the supporters: they couldn't do it without you; and to our super-coach, Digby, who has turned this little team into a force to be reckoned with. Well done everyone! Now for the knock-out games: I will let everyone know when and where.

Seaforth Ladies U14/2 Blues V CC Strikers
6 – 0
OK, so here’s the scenario. A win for the girls and they’re into the semi finals. A draw could be good enough and a defeat would need an Avalon victory against Wakehurst.
On a warm Sunday morning at Seaforth No2 oval, everyone waited to see if the girls could keep up the performances of the previous games.
Forwards playing like the Argentinians, midfield controlling the game, French style and a defence as mean as the Italians (minus the diving), or were we going to witness a complete collapse, England style? Surely not.
The game started at the usual Seaforth pace – fast and furious.
With ten minutes gone, beautiful skills on the right allowed Kellie to send in a delightful ball to Ellie who dispatched it with ease into the net, 'Crespo' style – looking good.
Kellie herself drilled in a cracker to double the lead and before half time. Amelia hit a sublime left foot shot into the bottom corner of the net – one foot in the semis.
The pressure continued in the second half with Kellie grabbing two more goals for her 'hat trick' and Ellie rounding of a wonderful performance by the girls with her second goal of the morning.
Well done girls, the semi finals now beckon.
Congratulations, Ian, not bad going for a first season as a 'ticketed' coach.
A big cheer for the best supporters on the Peninsula.
Special mention to our goalkeeper who volunteered for this very important game
(Good on ya Ms Pringle).
But most of all, congratulations 'Ladies'- you’ve been magnificent!
3 Points – Ellie
2 Points – Amelia
1 Point – Kellie
Most Improved – Ian McKellar
