WELL DONE LADS !!!
Match Report
The day was Sunday. The match, GRAND FINAL - Premier Reserve's. The atmosphere, ELECTRIC.
Seaforth's squad had prepared well. Two excellent mid-week sessions studiously overseen by Simon "Coach" Bloom + a Friday evening video Q&A. Confidence was high. Seaforth knew now was their chance to build a legacy. Time to give the fans a football feast to savour.
Kick off came against a traditionally strong Brookvale side. Joe "Goal a Game" George led the troops in what had been billed as a "epic encounter between two great teams and at least one great coach".
Hungry for victory, Seaforth began like ravaged wolves. Oliver "Not so Mad Dog" Madden, Marc "Toys" van Zeyl and Chris "not so Junior" Anderson were combining well in the engine room of the team, denying Brookvale possession of the ball. Jake "Tuna" Marsh and Nick "Yummy" Anderson were immediately causing the opposition Full-Backs problems with their electric pace down the wings. Andrew "Turtle" Sate standing 6'6" tall was Seaforth's beacon up front - a shining light of footballing genius.
The first 20 minutes came and went - a somewhat scrappy affair that produced few clear-cut chances for either team. Was the pressure of a grand final getting to both teams? NO - a Brookvale freekick produced the first goal of the game - BOOOO. Something rubbish happened and Brookvale scored. 1-0
How would Seaforth's heroes respond? Brilliantly!
Yummy Anderson produced a massive throw-in that unhinged the Brookie "defense" and saw the majestic "Salmon like" Joe George leap into the air to nod home from 30cm out. The Seaforth faithful whooped and cheered. The tide was turning.
The half looked like ending without troubling the scorers any further. BUT WAIT! Mad Dog, Lurch, Yummy, Junior, Toys, Tuna combined brilliantly with Ben "Lipstick" Jackson, James "Juggernaut" Jowett and Tim "Abs" Fairlie to produce a flowing team move. Lurch collected the ball inside the Brookie box and laid it off square for Tuna to shoot first time at the trembling Brookie keeper. AGH, the ball sped over the bar. Half time 1-1
Coach Bloom demanded better possession from his troops at half time, "Please please please improve possession in the second half".
Seaforth, inspired by these words of wisdom, came out the blocks the faster. Lipstick and Juggernaut were causing havoc bombing on from the full-back positions. But where was the end product?
Bloom decided to shuffle his pack. On came Joel "DB" Hill, Chris "Benjamin Button" Williams and Kevin "Van Persie" Hernandez. Off the Anderson brothers and Toys van Zeyl. The changes made an immediate impact - a brilliant move by coach Bloom. Seaforth were stringing the passes together. BUT THEN...
...a Brookie free-kick, a Brookie header, Lipstick Jackson a BRILLIANT goal line clearance, a turning point in the match.
Gavin "Theo" Marr and James "Zippy" Goodwin came on for the Black and Whites. Coach Bloom's inspired words to the two new boys "Please win me the match". Immediate payback. Theo wins a throw in by the Brookie box. Zippy spins his marker in the box. PENALTY!!!
STEP UP ANDY SATE
People in the crowd couldn't watch. The tension was incredible.
The Big Fella could win the Grand Final for Seaforth.
Last minute of the game, what drama...
Sate begins his run-up.
An idiot Brookvale support runs behind the goal. Will he put Lurch off.
NO WAY JOSE.
Andy strikes the ball.
It's going high.
Is it going over!!!
HAHAHAHAH, unlucky Brooky.
TOP CORNER. 2-1 Seaforth.
Incredible scenes in the stands.
The crowd are chanting SATE SATE SATE SATE SATE.
And then the final whistle. CHAMPIONS. Wonderful.
Man of the Match was awarded to Tim "Abs" Fairlie.
A brilliant display from the defender to cap a brilliant season for the lad.
Well done Timmy...

Match Report
Seaforth Premier Reserve side took on League winners Pittwater in Saturdays Semi-Final contest. Seaforth came into the game on the back of a 9 match unbeaten run. Captain, Joe George demanded a strong start from his troops and was not to be disappointed.
Inside 3 minutes Andrew "SATÉ" Sate poked the ball past the last Pittwater defender only to have his legs kicked out from under him. Up stepped Marc "The Hammer" van Zeyl. 30 yards from goal but central, van Zeyl unleashed a thunderbolt. Clipping the end of the wall as it passed at Mach 1, the ball sped into the corner of the net. 1-0 Seaforth.
Confidence surged through the Black and Whites. Olly "Mad Dog" Madden was tearing the Pitts defence apart with incisive through balls and penetrating runs from his deep-lying strikers position. Then a gift came Seaforth's way on 20 minutes. The Pitts keeper, whose vision was obscured by his flowing locks, threw the ball to our very own Jake "What's the Score" Marsh. Jake hungrily accepted the pressy and must have been thinking it was time to make it 3-0! Alas, from 20 yards Jake could only plant his lobbed shot against the Pitts crossbar. The referee signalled for a corner, the Pitts keeper having atoned for his error with a fine fingertip save to deflect the ball onto the woodwork. Jake roared the lads on and soon combined expertly with Nick "Yum Yum" Anderson whose cross from the right wing found the Seaforth striker in space inside the box. Jake struck it first time but could only drag it inches wide of the post.
The interval came to rapturous applause from the spectators. The Seaforth Premier League side toasting their heroes on the pitch from their vantage point in the stands. Seaforth leading 1-0.
The second half saw Seaforth come out the blocks the sharpest. Mitch Wright launched a massive kick downfield, Sate flicking it on for Olly to "race" through on goal. Surely it was time for his first of the season. With fans on the edge of seats and drawing breath, Madden composed himself. OH DEAR - somehow from dead centre Olly put it 1metre wide. His tears did little to placate his furious team-mates. It should have been game set and match but this story wasn't finished yet.
Olly collected the ball in the centre circle after great play from Chris "Junior" Anderson and played a delightful through ball for Sate to run clear. The big fella found himself with a tight angle and could only send a tame shot into the grateful arms of the Pitts keeper who sadly refused to throw the ball to any of our waiting strikers despite the pleas of cameraman, Scott "Cameraman" Bidder.
Olly wasn't finished for the day though. Junior was having a blinder in the centre of the park and poked a wonderful ball through to Olly going through the right channel. From a difficult angle Seaforth's no.7 did well to hit the far corner but the keeper dived across to his right and held on at the feet of the on-rushing Nick Anderson.
On 70 minutes the game turned. Pittwater's tricky no.14 went on a mazy run and hit a piledriver from 20 yards. Mitch did well to get fingertips to the ball but could only divert it into his net. 1-1 and the crowd were calling for Joel "DB" Hill. Coach Simon Bloom knew better than to bring on the talented young midfielder. Within minutes his faith in the players on the park was rewarded. Seaforth squeezed the Pitts defence and forced their centre-half to pass back to his "technically challenged" goal keeper. Once again his shaggy mane proved his undoing. The ball rolled under his foot and into an unguarded net. 2-1 Seaforth to the delight of Dashell "Den" Ridder.
Joe George was determined not to let the lead slip for a second time. His formidable partnership with Tim "Abs" Fairlie, Ben "Lipstick" Jackson and James "Juggernaut" Jowett gave the Pittwater lads no space to conjure anything.
Coach Bloom made some late changes to wind down the clock - Chris "Benjamin Button" Williams & Medard "The Gazelle" Boutry tied things up at the end to secure a memorable win and a Grand Final appearance.
A special thanks to Gavin "Theo" Marr who despite not getting on the field has made a fantastic contribution to the Ressies run to the Finals. Also Kevin "The Hammertime" Hernandez who watched the game from the bench but will no doubt play a vital role in Seaforth's Grand Final win next Sunday.

Premier League Weekend Wrap
Beacon Stake Finals Claim With Six-Point Weekend
THE MWFA premier league finals aspirations of Beacon Hill received a massive six-point 'shot in the arm' with victories over Mosman and Manly-Allambie last weekend.
The Mark Gale-coached side jumped three places into fourth spot after accounting for Mosman 1-0 at Allan Border Oval before backing up 24 hours later to down Manly-Allambie 3-1 at Cromer Park on Sunday.
The 'two blues' have an incredibly hectic playing schedule at present with last weekend's double header followed by this Wednesday night's MWFA Cup final against Brookvale at Cromer Park (7pm) and then another double header this weekend.
The news at the other end of the table wasn't good at all for Narrabeen who moved a step closer to relegation with a 3-1 loss to Manly-Allambie.
The 'Beanies' finished the game with nine men having star striker Marc Nicholson and Claudio de Brito send off for separate incidents. In a bizarre twist Marcio Alves was also shown a red card after fulltime for venting his frustration verbally at the referee.
"We were more than a match for Manly (Allambie) and while we contributed to our downfall, it seems every minor transgression we make we are pounced upon," Narrabeen coach Steve Hurd said. "We fought manfully with nine men but couldn't hold out."
Another fighting to stave off relegation - Seaforth - were left ruing a number of missed opportunities as they went down to Forest Killarney 2-1.
After player-coach Simon Bloom put his side ahead 1-0 in the 10th minute, Joey Mawson missed a one-on-one five minutes later that would surely have put the game to bed. Bloom then turned villain, missing the target from 12 yards.
Forest then grabbed an equaliser just before halftime and then took the lead just after the break - a 2-1 lead that would remain until fulltime despite Seaforth missing two penalties in the second half.
Bloom was livid after the match, claiming his side should have buried Forest in the first half. "It should have been 4-0 by halftime," Bloom said. "We had 15 chances to their one. Their first goal was a foul on our 'keeper. We missed two penalties but defended really well for 90 minutes and played some good attacking football."
Forest coach Paul McTigue hailed goalkeeper Steve Haines the hero of the day with his two second half penalty saves. "Hainsy's'’ saves were priceless and we can now look forward to this weekend's double header against Narrabeen and Pittwater," McTigue said. "We collected a vital three points against Seaforth but again we conceded a goal in the first 10 minutes of the game - by my count that is five times this season and a real cause for concern."
At Grahams Reserve, veteran Brookvale striker Stuey Cleary was again the saviour for his side, scoring a dramatic late winner to give the Blues a 2-1 victory over second-placed CC Strikers - and a four-point lead at the top of the table. Cleary came off the bench with 20 minutes to go, had a hand in Adam Demasi's opening goal in the 75th minute before Strikers pulled back an equaliser through the boot of Jimmy Ryburn and then popped up to score the winner.
"I'm delighted to be playing premier league again," Cleary said. "It was the furthest thing from my mind at the start of the season when I was enjoying over-35s but the club asked me to help out and I'm scoring some goals so I'm enjoying it."
Wakehurst coach Adam Townsend admitted his side came "back to earth with a thud" after Saturday's 3-1 loss to Pittwater. The Black and Oranges enjoyed a six-point double-header weekend just a week earlier to sneak up on the top four but now find themselves back down to seventh on 20 points.
"It was a disappointing home loss for us as Pitts have now jumped us and we can't afford to drop too many more points if we want to make the semis," Townsend said. "We had some bad defensive lapses in the first half but created plenty of chances ourselves which augurs well for this weekend's double header against Beacon Hill and CC Strikers. Our season is on the line though." Pittwater ran away with the game in the first half to lead 3-1 at the break.
A snapshot of all last weekend's results is as follows: Brookvale 2 Strikers 1, Manly-Allambie 3 Narrabeen 1, Wakehurst 1 Pittwater 3, Seaforth 1 Forest 2, Mosman 0 Beacon Hill 1.
Sunday's rescheduled game: Beacon Hill 3 Manly-Allambie 1.
The league table now reads: Brookvale (28 points), Strikers, Manly-Allambie (both 24), Beacon Hill (23), Pittwater (21), Mosman, Wakehurst (both 20), Forest (16), Seaforth (12) and Narrabeen (8).

Beaming Bloom says Seaforth shock no big surprise
FOLLOWING an inept performance against Beacon Hill on Saturday, not many expected Seaforth to cause CC Strikers many problems at St Matthews Farm in their catch-up game on Sunday.
After all, Strikers looked sharp in their 2-0 win away to Pittwater 24 hours earlier and were equal competition leaders with Brookvale.
Heading into the David and Goliath contest, the black and whites had won just twice from 12 starts, but after a blistering first half Seaforth finally showed what they are capable of.
And game number 13 turned out to be anything but unlucky.
A deflected effort from Adam Leonardi was followed by top-shelf strikes from Joey Mawson and Joel Hill, leaving the Strikers faithful in a state of disbelief.
A beaming Simon Bloom said the win wasn't a major surprise.
"I guess if you look at the table the result may raise a few eyebrows but I wasn't shocked to the core," the Seaforth coach said.
"The quality in the squad has never been in question, we just tend to get crucified with defensive lapses.
We were poor on Saturday but credit to Beacon Hill, they were outstanding, I can't fathom how they are not in the top four. It was some turnaround (on Sunday) and hopefully now we can go on a run and be in the mix come semi-final time."
In other results, Brookvale snatched outright competition leadership with a 4-1 win over Forest and a 1-1 draw with Pittwater.
Wakehurst were the big movers, collecting six points and fourth place after upsetting Manly Allambie 3-0 at Lionel Watts before following that up with a 4-1 demolition of Narrabeen, who appear destined to be relegated.
Mosman remain mid-table after a draw and a victory, with Beacon Hill also ready to pounce. The blue and golds also have a game in hand after their clash with Manly Allambie was postponed due to the state of the pitch at Passmore.
Mark Gale's men also have the chance to book a place in the FA Cup decider when they take on Narrabeen in their semi-final on Thursday night at Cromer Park (7pm).

Seaforth Raise Hopes of Survival
SEAFORTH premier league coach Simon Bloom believes Saturday's 2-0 victory over competition heavyweights Pittwater was a result that "had been coming for some time".
The Seaforth Oval-based outfit sent their army of supporters into raptures as first ex-Manly United midfielder Micky Williams and then Bloom himself found the back of the net in a performance the player-coach said was emphatic.
"To be honest I don't remember our 'keeper having to make a save during the 90 minutes," Bloom said.
"We also missed a penalty after 40 minutes that would have saved us from a pretty tense last 10 minutes of the match."
Williams scored the game's first goal after 15 minutes on the back of good lead-up play from Joel Hill and Anthony Surace before Bloom popped up and finished with exquisite skill to lob the Pittwater 'keeper five minutes later.
"It was my first start in over two months and my first venture up front of the season," Bloom said. "There's a lot of belief in this group and we got a result that we've deserved for quite some time."
The result and Narrabeen's 2-0 loss to Beacon Hill have given all at Seaforth some hope of avoiding the drop to AL1s as they battle the Beanies to stay in the top flight.
Beacon ventured to the 'Palace' at Narrabeen and overcame a tough first half to boss the hosts off the field in the second half with a double to striker Ross Cummings.
In other results, Brookvale thrashed Wakehurst 4-0, CC Strikers downed Mosman 1-0 and Manly-Allambie knocked off Forest 3-2. Pittwater backed up from their disappointing loss to Seaforth on Saturday to edge out Forest 3-2 in Sunday’s only catch-up match.
The table reads: Manly-Allambie, CC Strikers, Brookvale (all 20pts), Mosman (15), Pittwater, Wakehurst (14), Beacon Hill (13), Forest (10), Seaforth (8) and Narrabeen (7).
Manly-Allambie take on Brookvale in this weekend's top of the table clash at Millers Reserve. The game will double as a fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness with a full day of fun-filled activities planned from 8.30am with SSG.
Coach Dave Bonney - whose players will wear pink strips for the game - has urged supporters to get behind the club's effort to raise funds for such a worthy cause.
"It should be a great day and we urge everyone to get down to Millers for a worthy cause and what should be a cracker of a game of football," he said this week.
In other games (home team first), Mosman host Seaforth, Pittwater welcome Narrabeen to Kitchener Park, Forest take on Wakehurst and Beacon Hill host CC Strikers in a day of local derbies.
All games kick-off at 3pm.

Match Report
This week's matches were against Manly Allambie in a make up round for the
wash out earlier in the season. The first time around Reserves drew and
1st grade secured their first win of the season. As a result confidence
was high when the lads arrived at Millers.
Reserves were sticking with their new 4-3-3 system, with Nils moving to
centre back and Andy moving up front to centre forward. From the kick off
the lads were up for it. In the tackle there was plenty of commitment and
there was also plenty of drive and off the ball.
Manly Allambie stuck with their long ball game. Defensively the back four
handled the continue aerial bombardment with aplomb and Pas provided a
tireless and strong effort providing cover for the back four and
distributing the ball efficiently moving forward. Gavin and Abe provided
width up front.
Gavin scored with his head from a crossed free kick. The goal was well
deserved as Seaforth had the lion's share of possession and chances. Junior
and Olly worked hard in the middle and linked well with the front 3. At
half time Seaforth were up 1-0.
Early in the second half Olly was sent off for a second yellow with the
lads having to play out the remaining 30 minutes with 10 men. The team
handled the pressure well, fought hard and held on for a well deserved 1-0
victory.
First grade was a tale of two matches.
The game before the first goal was
scored and the game after the first goal was scored.
For the first 35-40 minutes Seaforth were clearly the better team
controlling possession and the tempo of the game. The ball movement was
first class with plenty of movement off the ball. The back four were
dealing comfortably with Manly Allambie's predictable long ball game. Up
front Kevin and Leo were looking threatening and Joey and Dash were
creating width and penetration down the flanks. For the first 40 minutes
only one team looked like creating chances and taking them and that was
Seaforth.
Then, against the run of play Manly Allambie scored on the counter attack.
The Seaforth players were shell shocked as the goal was clearly against
the run of play. Manly Allambie then lifted a notch and scored a second.
At the end of the first half in which Seaforth had dominated the score was
2-0 to Manly Allambie.
Early in the second half Joel and Ace came on for Van and Leo. Manly
Allambie scored a third as Seaforth failed to recover from the late blows
conceded in the first half. Mark and Jake came on for Dash and Joey midway through the second half.
Whilst Seaforth did not concede any more goals they did not look like
getting back into the game as Manly Allambie continued to pressure the
Seaforth goal. Final score, 3-0 to Manly Allambie.

Match Report
This was a very important game in Seaforth's season. Currently both teams lie at the foot of the table. With all to play for Seaforth began the day confident they could earn 3 points and move up the table.
The game was played at a frantic pace with both teams keen to secure an early advantage. Seaforth's Joey Mawson was proving a constant threat down the right hand side, repeatedly beating his defender but then lacking the killer final ball.
Having re-shuffled the back four, Seaforth were keen to keep a clean sheet. James Goodwin and Tom Jowett formed an impressive central defensive partnership, allowing Adam Israel to patrol the right touchline behind Joey. Medard Boutry provided plenty of energy from left back and troubled the Narrabeen defense twice with telling overlapping runs.
The first half ended in stalemate, James Goodwin having perhaps the best chance to open the scoring but blazed over from 6 yards when he should have done better. This wouldn't be the last time the commanding centre back would have a chance to win it for Seaforth.
The second half was an all Seaforth affair. Dominating possession and the goal-scoring chances, the home team will be the more disappointed not to have take all 3 points.
Goodwin missed a sitter from 3 yards with the goal gaping after a great pick-out by Micky Williams. Adam Leonardi raced clear of the Narrabeen defence after a brilliant piece of individual skill, flicking the ball over his defender, rounding the keeper and then shooting at the covering Narrabeen defender.
Simon Bloom then went agonisingly close. A great angled pass from Williams, a left foot shot from Bloom at the edge of the 18 yard box and a great save from the keeper stretching out a left foot and clipping the ball inches past the upright.
At the final whistle it was disappointment not having taken chances to score a comfortable victory.
Earlier in the day the Seaforth Reserve Grade went down 3-1 to Narrabeen Reserve grade. Coach Simon Bloom had this to say: "This was a game we totally dominated. We played some of the best football I've seen a reserve grade side play at this level. To lose really hurts and the players are feeling it. You can't afford to make school-boy defensive errors against a team that you're playing off the park. We should have won 5 or 6-0"

For those of you with long memories you may remember a tacky 1990's TV show, Chances. This sums things up perfectly. CC Strikers took theirs Seaforth didn't. At the end of the day football is about the number of shots that end up in the back of the net, not the amount of possession, or percent of completed passes.
The squad is virtually back to full strength so both Reserve grade and 1st grade had strong teams to put out on the park.
Reserve grade started well in the sense of controlling the posession and tempo of the game. However,
the team still was not playing to the desired shape and system. Despite having the lion's share of possession and the majority of the chances CC Strikers were clinical in front of goal and took a 2-0 lead into the break.
Simon decided to change formation and adopted a 4-3-3 for the second half. The change had the desired affect with new formation suiting the lads well.
Ben brought the score back to 2-1 with a nice finish off some good build up play and cross into the box from Nick. Chris then scored a screamer from far out on the left wing. Was it a cross, was it a shot? Only Chris
really knows. Final score reserve grade 2-2.
After a win and a draw 1st grade were confident coming up against the league leaders. With nearly a full compliment to choose from there was every reaason to be optimistic at kick off.
The back four comprised Meds, Zippy, Ads and Tom, across the middle of the park we had Joey, Joel, Van and Ace, up front was Mick and Leo. Similar to Reserve grade 1st grade had plenty of possession, but did not play with
the width the system needs to provide penetration.
Again, the Strikers were more clinical and took their chance in the 1st half to go 1-0 up at the break. The lads were confident at half time as they would have the breeze in the 2nd half. Simon came on for the 2nd half for Joel.
Unfortunately, Seaforth failed to find penetration in the 2nd half. Again, Seaforth had plenty of possession but couldn't find the cutting edge to really put CC Strikers under pressure.
CC Strikers continued to create chances on the counter and Scott did a brilliant job in goals with 5 or 6 top shelf saves to keep Seaforth in the contest. The Strkers then hit again on the counter beating the off side
trap to go 2-0 up.
Mick had a good chance as did Simon but Seaforth didn't convert.
The final score, 2-0 to the Strikers.

Match Report
After the results against Manly Allambie confidence was high going into the clash against Pittwater. Pittwater are always seen as one of the big boys of the competition so motivation was high despite Pittwater having
some mixed results early in the season.
Reserve grade had one of its strongest teams for the season with a few players coming back from injury for both Reserve and 1st grade. Again, the focus was playing possession football and maintaining shape and focus for the full 90 minutes.
Whilst Seaforth created some chances and were on top for periods of play in both the 1st and 2nd halves it would be fair to say that Pittwater were the better team on the day and deserved their 2-0 win. The won the middle of the park, controlled the play and had the better chances.
At kick off for 1st grade expectations were high. Both Dash and Leo were on the bench returning from injury and it was great to see the 1st grade squad starting to return to full strength. Joey started up front with Mick
and Ads was back in central defence, pushing Tom out to left back.
Seaforth could not have had a worse start. Having kicked off Seaforth lost possession on the left and were caught out at the back, giving away a penalty. Pittwater converted the spot kick and were up 1-0. The lads were somewhat stunned and were caught on the break ten minutes later to be trailing 2-0.
Whilst the scoreboard did not look good the players did not panic or drop their heads. Instead Mick and Ads worked hard to pick the spirits of the team up and they worked well as a unit to get back into the match. Van and
Joel were working hard in the middle of the park and were starting to link with Mick and Joey up front. Seaforth were creating chances and were determined to get back into the match.
Leo was brought on for Abe midway through the 1st half to strengthen the strike power as Seaforth chased the game. Joey came back to right wing. Seaforth continued to press for a goal and Tom and Marc started to push on
and create chances down the flanks.
Just before half time the goal came. A cross was whipped into the box from the right and in the contest for the ball a Pittwater player put the ball in the back of Pittwater's goal. 2-1. Whilst Seaforth was down at half time they had definitely finished the half the stronger and were now on top.
This was the focus of Simon's half time talk. Despite the start Seaforth was very much in the game and could win it in the second half.
The lads went into the second half full of confidence and with momentum on their side. Within 5 minutes of the restart Seaforth was level with Leo finishing coolly after some excellent lead up play. Seaforth were now on top and were pushing for the lead. Seaforth was controlling the game and moving the ball around beautifully. Dash came on for Ace and Jake came on for a tiring Joey.
As Seaforth continued to play Pittwater were visibly rocking and feeling the pressure of the Seaforth comeback. The comeback was complete when Leo slotted his second. Seaforth were now up 3-2 and had shown fantastic
fighting spirit to get back into the match. Pittwater were stunned and now had draw upon their own reserves to get back into the match themselves.
Seaforth were continuing to work hard, however, it was clear that a large effort had been expanded to get to a 3-2 lead. Pittwater were desperately pressing for an equaliser and with 15 to go they scored. The game was now
there to be one or lost by either side.
The match now went from end to end with both teams creating a number of excellent chances to win the game. Both defences were desperate as they defended their goals with desperation. As the clock wore down, James came on for Marc.
Until the final whistle each team pushed for the winner. For both sides it wouldn't come with the final score being 3-3. It was a fantastic fight-back by the Seaforth lads that will give plenty of self belief for the rest of the season.

6 points up for grabs, 4 points secured.
Reserve grade had a hard fought 1-1 draw, whilst 1st grade had a deserved 1-0 win over high flying Manly
Allambie.
With Reserve Grade taking all 3 points against Wakehurst confidence and expectations were high coming into the Manly Allambie clash. Again the focus was playing possession football and sticking to the game plan of creating plenty of width out wide and attacking down the flanks.
Seaforth dominated for the first 20 minutes executing the game plan to perfection and were rewarded with a goal to Ben Jowett. As the half wore on the lads abandoned the game plan a little and started to play too direct and too focused on trying to score with every move. We were also losing some shape at the back. However, at half time Seaforth were up 1-0.
Simon stressed at half time to stick to our possession game plan and work on our shape at the back. Patience was the key.
Manly Allambie came out with greater enthusiasm and intensity at the second half. Seaforth weathered the storm and continued to create chances. Pas did a great job across the middle of the park directing traffic. Andrew
came on for Joe and Seaforth pressed for a second goal.
Manly Allambie broke on the counter and beat our defensive line to score an equaliser. The rest of the match was an end to end affair as both teams looked for a winner. The score finished 1-1. The key lessons for the lads
is to stick to the game plan and keep the defensive line tight.
First grade were looking for their first win of the season and despite coming up against a Manly Allambie team that thumped Pittwater 4-1 were full of confidence. Ads was out injured, however, Zippy was back to
partner Tom at centre back. Meds was playing left back and Marc was shifted to right back to cover the injured Ollie. Across the middle of the park Ace started at left wing, with Joel and Van in the middle of the park and Abe at right wing. Micky and Jake were up front.
Before the game the talk was up and the lads were looking sharp. From the opening whistle Seaforth took control of the game. The lads played the game at their tempo and played with plenty of width.
Zippy and Tom were strong at the back and Meds and Marc were linking well with Ace and Abe respectively. Joel and Van were dominating in the middle linking well with both the Mick and Jake up front and Ace and Abe out wide.
Whilst the score at half time was 0-0 Seaforth was clearly on top. Seaforth had dominated possession, played most of the game in Manly Allambie's half. Seaforth created the better chances hitting the cross-bar twice through a Jake header and a Micky curler.
At half time the lads were confident. Simon praised the way they were playing with focus on continuing to provide width and attacking Manly Allambie down the flanks. The back four were told to keep playing tight.
Seaforth continued to dominate the second half with Ace creating havoc for his right back opponent. After 15 min Joey came on for Ace to provide additional width. Joey created a number of opportunities and Mick and Jake were looking dangerous in front of goal, however, the ball would not go in the back of the net.
Gavin came on for Abe and Ben Jowett came on for Jake up front. As the half wore on the crowd were getting increasingly anxious as it looked like a draw was on the cards.
Seaforth attacked again down the left with Joey and Meds combining well. The ball was crossed in to the box and was met by a cracking header from Ben Jowett seeing the ball finally end up in the back of the net. There was less then 5 minutes to go.
The lads galvanised and repelled the desperate Manly Allambie response and held on for a well deserved 1-0.

With both grades coming off disappointing losses to Beacon Hill the week before the lads were keen to make amends and to start building some winning momentum for the season. Both grades had surrendered leads so the focus was on executing the game plan, taking our chances and securing all three points for each grade.
The squad continues to be hit by injury with a number of key players again unavailable for the weekend clash against the the Tigers (Wakehurst). Whilst injuries are an unwanted challenge, they are never an excuse and are something that all teams have to deal with throughout a season.
Reserve Grade: Due to injuries and a number of players from Reserve grade required for first grade the goal was to use only 11 players in the first game. The lads started strongly and with Jake only available for Reserve grade he provided some impetus and direct around the middle of the park. The focus was on playing to the formation, sticking to the game plan and improving communication. At half time the score was 0-0, although Seaforth had definitely been the more dominant team. Simon's message at half time was to play the second 45 just as the lads had played the first 45.
The intensity was maintained for the second 45 and Seaforth slowly got on top. The first goal came midway through the second half with Jake calmly slotting home after rounding the 'keeper. As expected, Wakehurst tried to respond, however, the team stayed strong and continued to work as a unit. Joe came off with a broken toe which caused a reshuffle at the back. Seaforth continued to press for a second and were duly rewarded when Ben slotted home a rebound after a rifling shot from brother James.
The lads deserved their 2-0 and hopefully this will prove to be the first of many wins for the reserves this season.
First Grade: Having secured all 3 points in reserve grade, confidence was a high for the main game. Confidence was also up with Mick Williams named as a sub on his return from injury. Unfortunately, Zipply, Felipe, Leo, Simon, Joey and Dash were all injured and Franc was unavailable. This gave Scott his first start in first grade and also saw Ben Jackson promoted to left back. As for Reserve grade the focus for First grade was to again focus on playing the game plan, keeping the shape, communicating and playing as a unit.
The opening 15 minutes were tense with both teams testing and pushing each other, testing the opposition out. Seaforth was getting into the game, creating movement and opportunities down the flanks. Olie was working well with Abe down the right and Nick was presented with a few half chances one on one with the Wakehurst 'keeper. Nick came off second best with the 'keeper on a couple of occasions and 10 minutes before half time had to come off with an ankle injury. This saw the injection of Mick into the game a little earlier then desirable, although it was clear he was champing at the bit to get back into the fray.
Whilst Seaforth had created chances Scott also had to be on his game as Wakehurst also created chances of their own. Scott pulled off a number of excellent saves and just as it looked like being a goalless first half Abe pounced. Abe slotted home a chance from just in side the 18 yard box. At half time the score was one nil Seaforth.
James came on for Ben in the second half to provide a bit more height at the back. The challenge for the lads was to defend the lead and build on it in the second half. The second half started positively with Seaforth getting more time on the ball and controlling the midfield and the flanks. Mick was combining well with Marc and Van in the middle of the park as well as linking up with Ace and Abe on the flanks. Then, against the run of play in rare chance for Wakehurst, Seaforth conceded a foul in the box and gave away a penalty. Wakehurst coolly slotted home and game was now anyone's.
Ollie was substituted with an ankle injury with Gavin coming on at right back. Ben Jowett came on for Nils as Seaforth continued to push the play, create more chances and play the more complete and entertaining football. Then, in a somewhat controversial decision, the Wakehurst forward beat the offside trap and was one on one with Scott. Wakehurst slotted home for their second and Seaforth were now chasing the game. James succumbed to an asthma attack, which resulted in Mitch coming on at left wing.
Again, Seaforth created more then enough opportunities to equalise and maybe win the game. Unfortunately, the final touch was not there and despite a wholehearted team effort the final score remained 2-1 to Wakehurst.

Match Report
Seaforth Premier League squad visited Forest Killarney at the weekend keen to recover from the previous weeks disappointment against Brookvale.
The Reserve side kicked off first and should have taken the lead inside the first minute of play. Medard Boutry having a header cleared over the line by a Forest defender. Unfortunately the Assistant Referee admitted at half time to not knowing how to signal for a goal - the ball having gone 40 inches over the line. Seaforth dominated possession and had a host of chances to go in ahead at the break. A mix of good goalkeeping and poor finishing meant the score was 0-0 after 45mins.
The second half began poorly for Seaforth, conceding an early goal from a corner kick. Frustrating for the players to go behind to Forest's first attempt on goal. The team rallied well and levelled expertly through Joel Hill's thunderous strike into the top corner from just inside the 18 yard box. Good to see the skipper taking the game by the scruff of the neck. Seaforth piled the pressure on Forest and were rewarded through Medard Boutry 5 minutes before the end. Unfortunately the Assistant referee had raised a flag for off-side in the build-up.
The game ended 1-1... over to the Prems.
Seaforth Premier League side were still reeling from the loss of 5 key players to injury. The squads strength in depth was being tested at an early stage in the season but Coach Simon Bloom was still confident they had the ability to win the game.
Seaforth started well piling the pressure on Forest. Numerous chances came for Adam Leonardi, Marc van Zeyl, James Goodwin,, Simon Bloom and Gavin Marr - making his first start for the Prems age 17. Sadly wasteful finishing and poor final passes meant Seaforth were left frustrated approaching the break.
On 44 minutes a long ball from Forest out of defense was not dealt with by the Seaforth back line allowing a Forest striker to steal in on goal. Frank Chiarella in goal made an excellent initial block but the ball fell kindly for the Forest player who hooked into an empty net. 1-0 Forest at half time against the run of play
The second half was a similar pattern to the first - Seaforth monopolising possession and territory and cutting open the Forest defense with some slick passing and movement. James Goodwin found himself in a great position after 50 minutes but could not control his shot and ballooned over the bar from 5 yards. Further chances fell to Gavin Marr and Jake Marsh whose lob was agonisingly cleared off the line by a Forest defender.
70 minutes gone and Forest scored again. A free kick was played short for an oncoming player to strike at goal. The shot was poor and went across goal but directly into the path on an on-rushing Forest player. 3 yards out he had the simple task of passing the ball into an empty net. 2-0 the score would remain.
Van Marinos had a particularly impressive game for Seaforth in central midfield, regularly breaking down Forest counter-attacks and setting Seaforth on the attack themselves.
This Wednesday 15th April Seaforth play Gymea in the State Tiger Turf Cup knowing a win is well overdue. Kick off is 7.30pm at Seaforth Oval.

Match Report
The anticipation was heavy in the air on Saturday with round one of the league finally arriving. Yes there have been warm up games and the excitement of the FA cup. However, everyone knows it is the league that matters.
First up in the league was a clash with the defending champions, Brookvale. A test against the benchmark early in the season is just what the squad needed to appreciate what standards will be required for success week in a week out.
Reserves had not played in a few weeks and were champing at the bit to play. Seaforth dominated from the kick off and moved the ball around beautifully for the first five minutes. In fact, by the five minute mark the score could have been 2-0. Unfortunately Seaforth were caught on the counter and failed to clear, gifting Brookvale with the opening goal.
This sapped some of Seaforth's confidence with that confidence not being restored until Tim scored a terrific header from a corner near the end of the 1st half. At half time it was 1-1 with everything to play.
The second half was a harsh lesson in football for the reserves as a number of fundamental errors lead to a final score line of 5-1. At this level if you make fundamental errors you will be punished.
That being said there were a number of positives for the lads to take from the game. The key being when they play to game plan and stick to the formation the team can move the ball around beautifully and create a number of chances.
This brings us to the main game and the lads were confident coming off a hard fought 3-2 loss to Brookvale the week before. The starting line up was again shuffled with Micky Williams, Tom Jowett and Joey Mawson all unavailable due to injury. To cover the gaps Simon started the game in the middle of the park with Van.
Brookvale started at a frenetic pace and within 5 minutes were up 1-0 having caught Seaforth out at the back on a number of occasions. Brookvale were then gifted a second goal when Frank in a bid to distribute quickly inadvertently threw the ball to the Brookvale striker who slotted the ball into the empty net.
The players and crowd were stung by Brookvale's fast start. Seaforth were being pushed deep with both the midfield and the defence playing deep in the Seaforth half. Brookvale were sharp, clinical and had plenty of movement and Seaforth were fighting to stay in the game.
To make matters worse Felipe suffered a knee injury and had to be substituted with Ben Jowett coming on to partner Adam up front. Seaforth did create some movement down the flanks. Also, with their backs to the wall Ads, Zippy, Marc and Ollie were fighting hard to not sustain any more damage on the scoreboard. All in all though half time could not come soon enough.
At half time Simon and Mick talked to the lads about shape, movement, aggression and passion. The lads realised that they had not played with the required intensity and listened intently as Micky stressed the need to be positive and play higher up the pitch.
It was clear after the break that the words at half time had been effective. The whole team had lifted its intensity and were playing a more positive and aggressive game of football. Seaforth were playing higher up the park and were moving the ball around with purpose and conviction. The lads also got on top in the midfield with Jake in everything and putting the Brookvale boys under pressure, forcing mistakes.
Dash came off at around the 55 minute mark with a foot injury and was replaced by Ace. This brought Jake onto the left side of the pitch. The lads continued to push forward and created a number of chances. Ads and Zippy made some good runs from the back and Brookvale were struggling to repel wave after wave of Seaforth attack.
Unfortunately, Seaforth could not capitalise on its dominant possession and pressure as Brookvale continued to keep Seaforth at bay. Simon had perhaps the best chance of the game for Seaforth when a mis-hit cross from Jake landed at Simon's unexpecting feet. Unfortunately, Simon hit the chance wide.
Simon and Jake were replaced by Chris and Medard. Medard provided increased run and movement down the left stretching Brookvale to the limit, whilst Chris played a strong holding role in the middle of the park.
Seaforth were now camped in Brookvale's half. Crosses were coming into the box regularly and supply to Ben and Adam up front was increasing in quality and quantity. Adam provided a moment of magic down the left sideline that had the crowd on its feet and left the Brookvale defender dumbfounded. Meds then went close after a great move down the left, however, the chance fell to his non preferred right foot.
As time wore down Gavin came on for Ollie at right back. Seaforth continued to press but couldn't find the back of the net. At the final whistle the score was still 2-0 to Brookvale. However, Seaforth's second half showed that we will be pushing the big teams all the way this season.
Next week Seaforth will look to take all three points against Forest and will ensure that the second half effort against Brookvale is put in for the full 90 minutes.

Brookie's five furious minutes
PERENNIAL title favourites Brookvale sent out a clear message to the rest of the Premier League competition with a clinical opening round victory over Seaforth at Graham's Reserve on Saturday.
A brace to Dave Pascuzzo inside the first five minutes set the tone for the Blues who, apart from a few late defensive lapses, never really looked like losing to the league newcomers.
Incoming coach Joe Santarosa, who took control from from his younger brother Vince in the off-season, was happy with the first-up win but felt his team dropped a few notches in intensity after going ahead early.
"At this stage of the season, it's all about developing combinations and picking up as many points as you can," he said. "I felt after the start we had we might run away with it, but credit to Seaforth, they kept coming at us and were probably unlucky not to pull a goal back. We were guilty of being a bit casual, especially in the second half, and that is something we will address this week on the training paddock."
Seaforth centre back Adam Israel was happy with the effort the black and whites dished up. "It's a tough ask taking on the premiers in round one and it was good to see the boys hold their own," he said. "Sometimes when you play teams with quality you feel intimidated and the game is often over before it starts. Both goals were the result of some pretty casual defending which you can put down to inexperience and hopefully we will learn from that. For our first official hit-out I thought the signs were very promising."
In other games, Beacon Hill impressed in a 3-1 away win over Wakehurst, Narrabeen needed an injury-time strike from veteran Dean Harding to salvage a 3-3 draw against Forest Killarney, Manly Allambie outclassed CC Strikers 4-2 thanks largely to a double from Luke Ryan and the clash between Pittwater and Mosman was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Allan Border Oval.

MATCH REPORT
An early battle against the benchmark of the competition for the last few years is always a good test for a team with pretensions for a great return season to the 2009 Premier League. Whilst the final result did not go Seaforth's way there were plenty signs to indicate that 2009 will be successful for the Seaforth Football club.
Before the whistle blew Seaforth had to cope with the absence in the midfield engine room of both Mick Williams and Van Marinos. Simon rearranged the mid field moving Zippy and Marc into the central midfield roles. Tom Jowett was elevated to a starting position at left back with Andrew Sate coming in for the centre half role. In addition to Zippy moving into the engine room he was also given the captaincy, and played accordingly.
After a slightly edgy and frenetic start Seaforth settled into the game and began playing to men in front of them and not the Brookvale myth. Brookvale were clearly uncomfortable being stretched by Seaforth's width with Tom and Dash combining well down the left with Ollie and Joey combining well down the right.
Just as Seaforth were starting to get a hold in the middle of the park the game's first controversy occurred with Brookvale appearing to unfairly win possession in the middle of the park and moving down pitch to score the opening goal.
The opening goal appeared to galvanise the Seaforth team. Unfortunately, Marc van Zeyl was injured in the lead up to the Brookvale goal and was replaced by Jake in the middle of the park. Jake and Zippy started to form a good partnership in the middle, with Seaforth dominating possession for the rest of the first half.
Simon's focus at the break was on composure. The message was clear, start playing football, let the ball do the work and push Brookvale down the flanks. The team clearly got the message and came out after the break with composure and focus on the task at hand.
Across the park Seaforth started to execute the plan, completing passes and continue to pressure Brookvale out wide. It was clear that Brookvale were under pressure as tempers started to fray as Seaforth continue to exert pressure on the Brookvale goal.
At around the 50 minute mark Ace came on for Joey who had a slight hamstring strain. Around the 60 minute mark Seaforth completed an excellent move where play was built up from the back and down the right flank. A through ball was played through to Adam who finished sublimely to make the score 1-1.
Brookvale were well and truly rattled as Seaforth began to push home its advantage. Adam and Andrew were winning everything at the back as Adam marshalled the troops and calmly distributed the ball to the midfield. Zippy and Jake were now dominating in the middle of the park. Zippy was winning everything in the air and driving the team forward with strong distribution to the players around him.
70 minute mark Simon came on for Jake who had been injured in a collision in the Brookvale box. By now Brookvale were playing a more physical game as they tried to combat Seaforth's push for a second goal. Simon came close with a long range effort from just outside the box, and Seaforth had strong calls for a penalty waived away.
Just as it looked like Seaforth would get the second crucial goal, Brookvale struck on the counter attack. The goal came at around the 80 minute mark. As a result Seaforth threw more men forward to try and find a deserved equaliser. As Seaforth pushed for an equaliser Brookvale again broke and were awarded a free kick just outside the box. The free kick was expertly slotted home to make it 3-1 to Brookvale.
Medard came on for the injured Tom Jowett, who had put in an excellent performance at left back. As time wound down Seaforth were awarded a penalty that was put away calmly by Simon to make the final score a respectable 3-2.
Whilst the result did not go Seaforth's way, plenty of confidence can be taken into Round 1's match against Brookvale at Grahams Reserve this Saturday. There is no reason why Seaforth cannot take all three points, particularly if they play with the composure, skill and execution on display in the second half.

Seaforth Premier League side kicked off their 2009 season with a well deserved victory over St Augustine's in the FA Cup on Sunday. The 2-0 scoreline failed to reflect Seaforth's dominance of a game that will go a long way to building confidence for the season to come.
Leading 1-0 at half time thanks to a fine run and strike by Van Marinos, Seaforth could easily have gone into the break 4-0 ahead. Club Captain Micky Williams is forging a formidable midfield partnership with goalscorer Marinos, ensuring Seaforth had the lions-share of possession throughout the game.
It was only a number of last ditch defensive blocks that stopped Felipe Lopes and Adam Leonardi from adding to Seaforth's 1st half tally.
The second half started well for Seaforth with Micky Williams scoring a 25 yard thunderbolt that left the St Augustine's keeper rooted to the spot. Joey Mawson and Dash Den Ridder were finding more space out wide, whipping in a number of dangerous crosses.
St Augustine barely troubled the Seaforth defence which was ably marshalled by Adam Israel and James Goodwin with support from full-backs Oliver Madden and Medard Boutry both of whom provided great attacking impetus to support the wingers.
The game finished 2-0 Seaforth FC which sets up a mouthwatering tie against Brookvale in the second round Sunday 29th March at Cromer Park.

Adam Israel and Micky Williams join Seaforth FC
Manly Warringah Premier League new boys Seaforth FC have hit the ground running in their quest for a top four spot in 2009 after securing the services of former Manly United players Adam Israel and Micky Williams.
The black and whites automatically gained promotion after they took out the Amateur League Division One Major Premiership earlier this year. Having not been in the competition since 2004, the club is aiming to start a revolution at Seaforth Oval.
They have also snared a new manager in Englishman Simon Bloom, who has coached at representative levels in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Israel, who along with Williams will be part of the club's coaching staff, is relishing the challenges that lie ahead. "It is going to be different to what I am used to but that was part of the appeal," he said. "After I had a chat to Simon I was impressed with his plans for the club. He has also managed to grab a few young blokes I spent time with at Manly United who I am looking forward to playing with once again. Even though the season is a while off yet I can't wait to have a kick with the boys."
Williams echoed Israel's thoughts, saying the desire of the club to succeed ensured his signature. "They are really ambitious and that appealed to me," he said. "I am living locally and the short commute to training is going to be fantastic. I had been at Manly United for five years and really think I got out at the perfect time and will be treating the move as my next challenge."
"From what I have heard they had a young squad this year and did very well so it's going to be exciting to play a role in their development. Along with Adam I will be taking on a coaching role with the club and hopefully our experience will rub off on them. The aim will be to get the boys to gel pretty quickly so we can be competitive from the opening whistle."
